If anyone wants to know what a cooper scooper looks like on the nose in between the turn signals let me know. I have an old nose thats too beat for my car, and I'd be happy to donate it to the cause.

Edit: I had a nose (RS Aizawa) with a scoop in that spot... knocked my temp down about 5-10 degrees it seemed.

I set mine in the slot I already have cut there and it looks like it would fit nicely. It also looked a little small to my eye in that position.

Wouldn't the venting work better if the vent was placed further back on the hood? Might get more turbo heat pulled out. I do seem to remember a conversation about this topic several years ago where a concern was raised about transmission temps. The thread thought that the original design was to extract heat/air down through the plastic undertray and cool the tranny in the process.

the main purpose is to reduce the pressure behind the radiator, thus more airflow through it; not to cool the engine bay.

if you want to cool the engine bay, use a cowl hood...

Even the extractor is doing a good job of removing the under hood heat when stopped

ok so I have a dumb non-mechanic's question. Is it alright to have water drop into the hood extractor onto the engine? I'm wondering if the car is parked outside and it rains, wouldn't all the rain just collect in there? Thanks for educating me, I like the look, and if it's all that beneficial, then even 'cooler'!

well, its never a good idea to put water on electronics like plug wires, cops, ******, igniters...but its probably fine if its scooched forward.

its a sealed machine. if you drive your car in the rain more water will come through the bottom and rad than through that hole.

The extractor's position is going to be between the front of the engine and the radiator, so anything that does drop through the hole is going to land on the undertray, or sway bar, or hit the ground.

To the noobs, relax, no bashing, but think about the questions you just asked, and now think about what an engine bay looks like, and how a motor works. Now put all that together and you will get it.

Four year like this, and only problem, if the car sits still in heavy rain, the alt. belt squeels a bit on start up.

I left the sprinkler all over it for most of the day, no problems. Doesn't really get that wet in there.
Neighbors thought I was a bit of a r-tard for watering the miata instead of the lawn though.
