thoughts on this clutch
I'm preparing to replace my lightened flywheel with the OEM unit.
In the meantime I wanted to upgrade to a new Pressure Plate as mine has just reached the limits of the clamping force.I was planning on a ACT Xtreme PP as it should give me able 80 more TQ to work with.
However I came across a local deal form a friend on an almost new clutch kit from Competition Clutch. Anyone have any thoughts on this type of clutch, should prove to hold lots more HP...

yeah, I'm the same. I really like how ACT at least tells you what TQ to expect it to hold. I know little about Competition Clutch and less about dual friction clutches.

kevlar is a tricky one. it doesn't have as high a friction coefficient as organic but is allegedly reputed to last longer. however.... once you glaze it (and you will 
), it will suck bawls.
i say stick with organic for street cars. increase pressure plate clamp force to add power.

I can get this setup for cheaper than just any PP, I guess I can always try it and keep my disc handy, and at least try it with the PP if the disc goes bad.
At least it's a dual friction kevlar / organic and not pure kevlar.

i might as well try it....from what I'm reading the kevlar / carbon are a nice dual friction, same material as Spec Stage II+
The price is worth it. If it glazes, then I'll replace it.

the only problem I know of with act is the shitty pedal feel. I had a kevlar clutch like that and the center section started wearing/grinding into the flywheel. I was pretty pissed.

New $595 for the clutch kit. I'm not paying nearly that much. I'd personally rather have a ACT XT kit for $320, however what I'm paying is less than that as well.
If it holds well I'll have my ACT HD kit for sale as well which only had 8000 miles on it, holds my 200rwhp perfectly fine.
