I used to run an HKS on my old Greddy set-up a while back on my '90. Had no problems with it, flowed well, is your decision really coming down to looks?

Thats the K&N I have. I have an old AEM one the same style/size as the K&N if you want it to check for clearance. I'm not really a fan of the way the HKS one looks, but maybe I'm just partial to the K&N becuse I have one...

the way i look at it, air filter are nothing new, and there hasnt been any significant development pushes in a while. any good brand filter is gonna work just as good as the next. i like the hks because of the velocity stack design. but now that i see it on the car im pretty ehhh..... about it. that K&N really looks stellar and its 20 bucks cheaper. so i think its a win win

A: with the intercooler in theres not much room
B: im not cutting up a $500 carbon hood
C: this car is very close to starting, im not gonna invest another$100+ into an intake system ontop of a $100 filter. and spend two weeks fabing it up

I've always been fond of itg foam filters. And the basic look would be great for your engine bay.

I have heard and witnessed the HKS foam filters wear out from enough use, and begin to dry/rot out; small pieces can flake away and potentially be sucked in by your motor/turbo. YMMV, but they wouldn't be my first choice.

AEM filters are pretty good though!

BMC makes a filter called the "carbon dynamic airbox", I'm thinking of going with this particular filter setup on my miata project, but the 4" in/out model is like $300... compared to a $50 AEM, idk...

Yeah I can't wait either... All the CT people are planning a meet for apr/may, do you think you'll be done with it by then? No one has seen any of the car except for pictures so it'll be cool finally getting to see all the CT turbo miatas in person.
