I already converted my Moss Lowpros to HIDs. Turned out wonderfully. You would have to be a blind person to not agree either. Posted pics on here and M.net.

Ben... go ahead and try it. If it works for you, thats cool, if you fail, just move on.

Wow everyone is bitching about this with out saying what really needs to be done.

Ben if your going to do a DIY HID kit you need to do two things, well one if you semi nice and two if your really nice to other divers.

First is to retro fit your housing. IE you have to have a perfectly smooth lens. IE the stock lens in non-HID cars will not work. Cause Hotspots and sometimes causes worse light out put.

Second you should have a cut-off plate. Ie a plate mounted inside the housing, infront of the blub on the lower part. This plate is used to block len that will get reflected after going thru the lens, causing the light to have a cut off. This cut off is what helps to not blind over drives.

So you need to have the clear lens, the other is make the car safer for others and I believe legal. I know some state, to have HID without a cutoff is illegal, not sure about here in GA Ben.

BTW I plan to do a HID convention with my 4x6 using ebay projector housing ($20) and ebay HID kit like eric has. Should give a great light output(no highs) with the nice DIY custom lowpros that I have.

I forgot the manufacture of the conversion lights I have but they are glass instead of plastic (like a lot of the ones on ebay). I would like to retrofit projectors one day but for now I'm thrilled with my current setup. I'm running a Xentec 8000k kit; I thought it was going to be too blue as I wanted bright white so I bought a 6000K & 8000k at the same time. The 6000k seemed perfect at first but turned purplish after warm-up; the 8000k seemed ricer blue at first but warm up to a bright white with a very slight tint of blue.

Bought the kit from the following ebay user and got the kits here in Florida from California in 3 days with USPS priority. Less than $80.00 shipped. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/H4-90...mZ350033707391

I was previously running PIAA Extreme White Plus bulbs in the conversion lights which are $80.00 bulbs and blow anything else as a bulb away (not autozone junk). The HID's put the PIAA's to shame. The only downside is I did buy a low only kit; so no high beam. I was aware of this when I purchased them and I don't miss high beams at all.

The headlights to need to be adjusted correctly by A LOT so you correct for the extra light a spill so you don't blind everyone.

Question do the kits you got have a cutoff on lights, or does that have to be part of the projector housing???? Hard to tell form the kit photos.

It's just a projector housing; 7" conversion lights. The lights don't have the front reflector that sits in front of the bulb; i remember the civic i used to have them and made the HID light bounce everywhere. The HID bulb is sheilded on the bottom with that special tape (common in HID bulbs). Lines and most of the cut-offs are clear. Just don't get the clear Z shape cut-offs with the conversion lights where I would with projectors.

Nope...I mean in a way they are all simular. I got them from Keystone (wholesale) but you can by from them retail at DriverFx.com. I will call my old sales rep (from previous job) and ask him the brand again so I can locate them on Driver FX for you to purchase. I want to say they are IPCW (in-pro) but I want to find out for sure.

Nice. My dad is a keystone dealer, I didn't know there even existed a 7" projector conversion that I could get for cheap I run the Hella E-codes with the PIAA Extreme white plus's, just like Dan used to. I also run 2 more PIAA H4's in my "driving" lights. I'd be nice to convert all 4 to projectors.

i'm a little confused dan could you make an inventory of everything you had to purchase to make this stuff work for us newbs ? I understand that you got the HID kit that you posted a link of, and then you also purchased one of the aftermarket light kits with the glass dome. did this just plug into it or what? Sorry for my stupidity

Alright guys...i'm not sure where the confusion came in or it's just wrong wording but I'M NOT RUNNING PROJECTORS; THEY ARE 7" CONVERSION LIGHTS! I just got off the phone with our old sales rep but Keystone carries soo many different brands/types of these it was hard find out exactly what I bought. This was two years ago that I bought these so I remember ruffly in May of 2006 so he looked back and 2x Pilot WI-HL3's were ordered which was one of the ones we were thinking I had. So I'm 85-90% sure on these however in the photo they look like they have the city light socket but the ones I have don't have that. So it's either the wrong photo or hopefully it's just a shadow. So Here We Go!

2x Pilot 7" Conversion Lights (Part #:WI-HL3; KEYSTONE Part #:WIHL3)
Link To Where/Who I Purchased From (enter the keystone part number into the search)

1x Xentec H4 (low) 8000k HID Kit

I think wholesale they were $20-$25...and I paid $80.00 shipped for the HID's from the link I posted.

I did take some but I was using our point and shoot adjusted w/no flash and for some reason it hated the lights and made huge glares. If you give me until tonight I will grab the SLR and take some shots and get the car on the street so you all can see the light pattern and see how everything reflective looks w/them (street signs, etc.)

OK nice. I was under the impression you had projectors in 7" lamps (like Sam's) for some reason. I ordered these

I chose them because they are glass lenses, with minimal lines, and they have the shields. If they suck, I'll try yours. Might go ahead and get Sam's too.

That's about what I paid for my HID kit, though I did get the H4-2 w/ halogen hi beam. I'll have em today. Have no tracking on the housings tho

I'm encouraged to know that they're working well for you.
