Default Uh-oh... (story of the rock lodged in the throttle body)

This morning i think i almost blew my engine, lol.

Pretty much i live on a dirt road, the intercooler nuts vibrated off, intercooler fell to the ground ripping a hole in the piping. I didnt notice any of this, and the car died when i got to the stop sign(because of a vac leak of course).

Sooo anyways, it dies and right away i know its a vac leak, so i check theintercooler. I see its hanging down and do a temp zip tie fix, and i duct tape the hole up to i can limp to school and fix it later. Well i turn on the car and go for a min, and the throttle opens up all the way, i wasnt even hitting the gas and the engine keeps revving. Im like oh **** so i check my throttle cable.

I wiggled it around a bit and that didn fix i, so i took off the piping i fixed and looked in the throttle body. ******* ROCK LODGED IN IT... I couldent beleive it, i pulled it out and went again.

Few mins later it happend again, same thing... ******* rock. So i took off thepiping and poured it on the ground to see if there is anything in there. TO my suprise about a pound of rocks pour onto the ******* ground. I button her back up and she runs perfect, but im still super worried.

I mean if i got a rock stuck in the throttle body than think about all the dust i must of sucked into and combusted in my engine... And to think a rock could have went in there and completely bombed my engine makes me shiver...

Hopefully there was NO damage done, it idles great, engine sounds the same, still runs good- no misfires or anything. I guess time will tell.

Wish me luck, any opinions on anything i should do to help it? Ive already driven a good 4-6 miles after the incident so i think anything bad that would have happend would have already happend.

Bah, i guess if i fucked it up ill know in time...

I still cant beleive i didnt blow my engine, a rock was that close to entering the combustion chamber twice

I'd take a good look inside the intake manifold. Maybe one got though the throttle body and is sitting there waiting for the right bump.

Eek, i hope not.

Not going to go into boost until im assured everything is ok.

Should i take the throttle body apart, or shine a nice light in there with the throttle open to check?

Man, i really do feel lucky, and im sure the engine wouldnt be running as smoothly if anything got in there.

Edit: ^ Or not at all, lol
Edit2: Or ill slam on the brakes and hope if anything is in there it will fly foreward... hahaha

Personally, I would make sure I had a replacement gasket handy and take off the throttle body and get in there with a light and mirror.

I have, however, been accused of having OCD and have been called "Monk" by a few:gay:

after you get the obvious stuff... get 4 quarts of your favorite oil and 4 quarts of the cheapest detergent oil at the store.

change your oil to the shitty stuff, run the car for 30 minutes or so to get it hot (no load) and change it to the good stuff. just in case you got grit past a seal.
