Default Tps dying?

Since I got my car running again recently, I've had some sporadic tps activity while cruising. Every couple of minutes while at 3600 rpm and 60 kpa, my tps goes to 0 for about .3 seconds, causing decel to kick in, causing my car to buck for a small time.

I ordered another used but known working tps from a member here so I'll try that out when it arrives.

Is is probably my tps, the car has 130k miles on it, or could it be a bad solder in my diypnp?

It could be a lot of things. Loose connection in the harness, bad TPS, faulty connection inside the MS itself...

If you're up for a bit of testing, you could determine whether this ever occurs while you are sitting in the garage with the MS on but the engine not running. A fairly tedious thing to be sure.

If it doesn't happen, this suggests that heat / vibration are the culprit, which doesn't narrow the field much.

However, if you can get the problem to occur while stationary, then you can start moving backwards through the system, by installing a plain ole' 10k potentiometer in place of the TPS, setting it to a level that gives you a midrange reading, and then repeating the test to see if it fails again. If it does, your TPS is fine and the problem is further back. If it does not fail, then your TPS is likely at fault.

With my previous setup, this wasn't happening, although that was about 3 months ago. This leads me to believe that it might be inside the ms. I think tonight I will open up the diypnp and check the connections inside there. If it isn't fixed after that tomorrow, I'll put in the new tps when it arrives. Once I eliminate those two easy to fix problems, hopefully it's fixed, but if not I'll start chasing it then.
