Default Valve Cover + Leak!

Well.. I installed my valve cover.. as seen in my crappy camera phone pictures taken. Today, I noticed I have a leak. Not just a small one either, as you can see by the size of the puddle. I included 2 pictures.. one from the passenger side, with the car jacked up... and the other of my transmission plug.. which has like 2 drops of oil just hangin off it.

wow, that seems like ALOT to come from the valve cover. Did you run the engine after installing it? Hope you get it figured out.

The leak is not coming from my valve cover.. that leak was there BEFORE I installed the valve cover. The only recent things I did were (a) replace some fuel lines (two days ago) but that wouldnt leave that kind of residue, and (b) flushed the coolant system. The coolant system was leaking out of the top hose, but that is plugged up now. Besides the leak is definitely under the tranny pan/oil pan area. Whether or not its trickling down from elsewhere I dunno.

gasoline is a cleaner, and we did "spill" quite a bit. Might just be what trickled down the block?

I'll take a look at this afternoon, but since you haven't moved it since we "spilled" all the fuel, I'm going to have to go with that guess. And you didnt seem to have a leak before that.

Then I'd go with the valve cover gasket, as I saw the condition of your plugs (oiled) and how bad you described it to be.

valve cover looks good btw.

Well thats a good point, the gasoline, that pee'd all over my engine block might have just cleaned the oil. The new valve cover gasket is solid now, and I moved the car yesterday. Just so you know.. it threw ANOTHER CEL at cruising highway speeds ! I'm wondering if its another o2 sensor. We'll see if it leaked overnight, since I parked it in the same spot, but moved it forward.

I'll have my soldering iron and lead with my today, so if it's the O2 signal again, we'll cut the harness off the O2 I gave you and solder you old one on that wire.

If it's the GN signal again, that VPC might be interrupting the CAS signal to the ecu.

What i dont understand is why it just recently started.. I mean it wasnt there before. We'll have to use the magical safety pin of diagnosis to figure it out. If its o2 i'm just at a loss. Need to figure out how to reset the codes.. thats for sure.

power wash your motor with a degreaser and real good, let it sit overnight to dry, then start it up and see if you can see where it's coming from
