Default Shifter turret oil - How much to put in

Last night, I was changing the original shifter inner boots that were shredded, and found the turret oil level down to almost nothing. I could not find any level mark or any reference to exactly how much to top off.

Per some instructions on m.net, I refilled mine until it came to the bottom of the "neck". Then when I put the shifter in, the level came up, but not near the point of overflowing.

It won't take much. It's just a few ounces.

Assuming you have a 5 speed, that is. The turret in the 6 speed shares oil with the gear box. Just so you know.

What grease would you recommend.... White lithium or say like bearing grease?

Synthetic Caliper or bearing grease.

Easy enough.... I'm sick of hunting down my little syringe plunger and no matter how much or how little, it leaks. New gaskets have been on 6 months and it still pukes a little from the spirited runs.

ditto, the material was a poor choice. I think mine last, on average, about 1 year. That and the cooling are my only two real beefs with the car's design.

No kidding on the cooling. On second "stocker" rad since I had a spare, but will be moving on to aluminum soon.

Good info on the grease rec'd. Also, if anyone likes to know factory spec on the fluid, it's 80-95cc in the turret.
