Default kaaz 1.6 diffs. good for 220rwhp?

hey guys, im new
ive been given the opportunity to purchase a brand new kaaz 1.5 way lsd for my 1.6 miata for around $400USD. is this strong enough to take up to 220rwhp? im hopeing someone here has had turbo experience with them

im from New Zealand btw, over here we call em mx5's crazy talk

The parts that break on 1.6L diffs are the 6" ring gear and small pinions. Upgrading to a different limited slip meatball will do nothing for the strength of the diff.

... so in other words i shouldnt buy it since their is no way of strengthening the weak parts

damn that was pretty cheap too

Its the small ring and pinion gears that are weak, not the diff. You need a 1.8L diff.

Sorry bud, I'm in the same boat. I've actually been thinking about selling my 92 and getting a 94+ just to get the 1.8, tranny and diff without having to waste anymore time on the thing.. But I already have the VLSD so I may just wait till it dies and I have a reason to upgrade..

hmmm

well im pricing up a nb lsd conversion kit next week from a mazda wrecker, what do you think it will set me back?

well see, in nz im guessing with all the imports we have stuff will be a bit cheaper

if its too much ill go buy a megasquirt instead

Limited slip 1.8 differential swaps here in the states will run from 500 - 1000$ from what I've seen. If you're calling a wrecker to source one, request the cars VIN and call your Mazda dealer with it -- They can look it up and check to see if OEM it had Limited slip.

well thats within my budget =D

557795 is just a number, a phone number, a part of an email address, it was allocated to me, its my number

hopefully getting flanges sent in to be cut up for a turbo manifold tomorrow
