What rotors and pads are everyone using. I currently have some slotted rotors on my car from who knows where. They're getting pretty worn and before I install new pads i figure i'll swap the rotors too. What's everyone running and where did you get them from.

Anyone see drastic benefits of running slotted rotors again? Thinking about just running OEM or autozone rotors with my new axxis ultimates that just came in the mail. What do ya'll think and what has been your experiences with different setups.

I use the NAPA blanks with Axis Ultimates. Great setup. Well, great considering they're 1.6 brakes with uncorrected firewall flex and normal non-braided brake lines.

napa rotors, hawk hp+, and motul 600 with ss lines. They are loud, but hold up well on the track supposedly.

Slotted rotors don't do anything aside from wear the pad faster. Brake pads stopped emitting gasses like 20 years ago.

Napa Rotors, Hawk HP+ (Blues for the track), and ATE Super Blue with SS lines.

+1 on loud.

I use brembo blanks and Hawk Pads. They are stupid loud after they warm up. I swapped in the 1.8L caliper brackets (no have lots of surface area), so I may ditch the Hawk pads for Axxis or EBC (something quieter and less dusty).

NAPA rotors + Axxis Ultimates w/Castrol LMA fluid for the street. I use ATE Superblue fluid for the track and will probably switch to a dedicated race pad for my next track event.

All of these setups sound just like they should.

Anyone finding they cook the ATE? I got to the point on race pads that it wasn't enough in my civic. I was running Motul RBF600 before I sold it.

Does the ATE handle track days in the Miata? 1.8 brakes btw.

Oh... anyone running Cobalt pads on their Miatas? It was my absolute favorite pad coming from the Honda world... was going to try their spec miataish pad for track days.

I'm obviously not running them myself but I've read quite a few threads about people on .net that swear by them. Read a bunch of things saying they eat rotors and others that said they were the best pads they've ever had for track purpose. Think they fired someone that was prominent in the race community and a bunch of people stopped doing business with them.. could be wrong about that though. Axxis ultimates are $80 for front and rear shipped online, main reason i went that way, many people seem to be real happy with them.
I also have ATE Super Blue on the way, hope I don't end up boiling it. There is always Motul or that Castrol AFM you said you were using I suppose.

At Summit Point I was cooking the ATE with ease, but that was running axxis ultimates and 1.6 brakes so no big surprise. I had to bleed my brakes every other session to keep from fading too much and even that was a stop gap measure. If I get running in time, I may hit the same track with 1.8 brakes and ultimates and let you know.

I still think that running the extra power and being a relative track newbie (and hence using the brakes more than I should at times), I'm going to have to switch over eventually to something like a cobalt race pad. I am just busy with trying to get the car running first so that comes second.

i boiled my first batch of ATE super blue on the track, but i was also trying to stop from 120mph with 1.6 rotors and shitty pads.

havent had a problem since.

Hurm, maybe I'll stick to my rbf600 stuff... still have leftover bottles.

Cobalt pads have been nothing but amazing for me btw... hopefully the miata compound works as well. The specVRs for the honda applications were simply amazing... heat them up and they took anything you threw at them and then some.... and didn't destroy my autozone rotors at all.

Left over bottles of brake fluid are probably no good. Brake fluid will absorb water from the air. Not sure how much exposure is needed to cause problems, I'd say use at your own risk.

Yup, these are unused bottles. Once a bottle is capped, its either all used or used within a week then I toss it. Hair overkill.. but simple safety step.

I'm going to need new pads soon, any advise?
car will see some trackdays, maybe once a month, and will be driven quite hard almost daily..

I just bought a full set(front&rear) of Axxis Ultimates for my '99 for $80 shipped. Not bad, but i also hear that some see pretty bad fade when hard tracking. Depends on the driver and their braking techniques I'm sure though.
