Default Running 275/35/15 Hoosier R6's at AutoX like a fool?

Hey guys,
This is a bit of a self serving thread here. I just made a 10 hour round trip today to pickup a set of 15x10 6ul's and what I believed to be a never mounted set of 275/35/15 Hoosier A6's. When I actually met up with the kid, I noticed immediately that they were R6's and he had no idea what he was talking about. The 6ul's came with decent tread RS-2's that I will be able to get some use out of on some other rims.

I drove down there with the intention of buying said 6ul's and A6's that were maybe a year old. The R6's have a build date of the 8th week of 2013 but seem to have been stored well enough for 3 year old slicks... Prior to arriving I had agreed to give him $1400 but settled at $1200 because of his mistakes. I know the 6ul's are great and all but I might have had clouded judgment crawling out of my truck after driving 5 hours.
So my first question is if you guys think I got hosed on the deal overall and I should have skipped out? (just curious what you would have done) Or not so much if I make use of the R7's or sell them...?

Secondly, I am trying to figure out the best course of action for the upcoming autocross season for me. I know completely that R6's are just terrible for autocross but is there anyone on here that has just said **** it and run them as a dual purpose track/autox setup? I know they won't heat up but will they be better than my R1R's with a good 70 laps on them? I'm just not in a position to buy a new set of A7's for this year.
I will only run 1 or 2 track days and one hillclimb this year that would justify the R7's but idk if anyone would want to buy them off me to help pay for A6's. Just looking for any advice. I ran my Miata for the whole autocross season last year and ended up being really competetive on my Toyo R1R's. I ran SSM but was always running competitive with the Race class against guys on slicks. Some times even getting better raw times. Just stuck in my own head right now and looking for some advice. Thanks in advance.
