Angry Pulley Wobble on my fully built motor!!

So I bought a fully built miata with a built motor for 5300. what I come to find out after a little research is that ... I have the wobble of doom! I had a buddy of mine do the loctite method and retighten all the bolts... Still has the wobble. When we went to put the hub back on it had alot of play in there. though the woodruff key was in good condition.

Where do I go from here?
New Crank?! =[

P.s The giuy has about 10 grand in the motor. so tossing this motor would be a big no!no!

From the video u posted there isn't a huge wobble at all...

Not gonna lie, mine has a little wobble, very small and everything is brand new...I'm not worried about it.

More Details? what more can I saw it has a bad wobble on the crank pulley. It's worse at lower RPM's

Preluding : My camera is bad quality and the pulley is spinning to fast for the camera to pick up the wobble, so all you see is it spinning normal. I'm not trying to blow this motor.
Though as I did say in my previous thread. I am going to replace everything except the Crank as soon as I can find where to get those hubs.

Put on new pulley. See if that fixes it. Wobble pully bad.

Also see if pushing in clutch and pry barring the pully moves it at all. (Crank walk test)

Listen to Faeflora and follow his directions as well as mine from the last thread.

Its odd that the pulley is loose going on, mine (97) was a very very tight fit and I actually need a small pry bar to slowly wedge it off once its all together.
You're motor could have been assembled with non matching pulleys and bosses from different year cars maybe... highly doubt that your crank is fawked though.

You need this thread, complete with awesome close-up pictures:
https://www.miataturbo.net/showthrea...ghlight=pulley

Check to make sure the bolts are tight... hopefully that's all that is wrong.

Most likely the problem is not the key but the key way on the crank. It has probably been damaged so that the woodruff key does not fit snugly in the crank. Replace the crank and bearings and the problem is solved.

Note, I am assuming that you are dealing with a small nose crank engine.

the motor is the 94 1.8L. I believe it is the long nose.

I would still look at the keyway in the crank nose. If that looks good set up a dial indicator and check for runout, If that is good then it's the balancer

Well for some stroke of random luck. the wobble stopped. So random... that is blows my mind. It wobbled right after i torqued the bolts back on and started it up. Then I drove it home though i was beating on it pretty hard because I was just over the top mad because i thought i was gonna need to rebuild the bottom end. So when i got it home and checked it... No wobble..... Just in awhh right now.

$10k in the engine? Yeah right. I love fucksticks who throw figures like that around not knowing that the people who really know these cars are laughing at them.

I guess that makes two of us with the wobble, I am going to try and take care of mine tommorw. Its not crank walk because there is no play in the Pulley but it just wobbles on its own and when i rev it I can no longer tell. Hopefully its just the pulley and no other issues

Let me help you with that list. 10k in motor or 10k in car, pick a story.

So there's the built engine mods. Sounds like about $2000ish on the top end.

Let me guess, you're also making 400WHPzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!

I'm glad your wobble went away. Maybe it's just about ready to break off. My crank broke off the first motor I had.
