Where I live, everybody who is under 25 and drives a turbo diesel truck with stacks and a pillar gauge pod thinks they have a racer. I'm like, how bout you just stick to pulling your horses around.

No problem. Thanx for making a thread in which we all guesstimate your quarter mile times based only on the pressure level in your manifold.

I'm going to go run 60psi in a short yellow bus and run 10's now

I'm asking the question in a miata turbo forum and my car info is in my signature.

1psi averages about 8-10hp right? Better power to weight ratio equals faster times right?

Your car info is in your signature, but if you don't know the power level than you're really not even guesstimating. you're just fantasizing.

I'll be honest: my "signatures" option is turned off at work and when I turned it on just now I finally saw your setup. BUT it still doesn't say nearly jack **** about how fast your car is.

look at Rushin and a couple other guys; on 13psi and e85 and they can't even hit 200whp. That shows that without proper tuning/knowing wtf you're doing you could be making 130whp for all we know.

if you want us to make you feel good and tell you that your car is fater than a cobra then just say that, and we will stroke your ego.

but I honestly doubt you're anywhere near 200whp with a 2554 on 6psi and an emb, and I doubt your car would trap over 100.

And don't get butthurt, I'm just bustin your *****

PS: and **** NO 1psi doesn't automatically average 10hp unless you ASSUME the setup is efficient and working flawlessly and the tune is spot on and you're living in la la land.

Yes, but traction is a huge issue. A mustang can stuff a much larger tire under it and has a suspension setup that is better for off the line speed.
Your car will probably net you mid 14's unless you have slicks and launch like a lunatic. On the highway it would probably be a different story, since traction is not much of an issue when you are rolling.

So your best bet to beat said mustang would be a 20-80 roll or something silly like that. A stop and he'll easily outlaunch you, and you go over 100 and he will pass you cause he has more peak power and weight plays a tiny role at high resistance where aero and raw power/torque take over. plus our coefficient of drag is dog ****

[QUOTE=18psi;651949]And don't get butthurt, I'm just bustin your *****QUOTE]

I know

From the feel of it, I'd say that on 6-7 psi with my setup i'm at like 175-180hp. I always felt like I had a low to mid 14 second car, so I was surprised when I ran the cobra through a few gears and thought hey my car pulls harder then this.

From now on when I see them on the road, I won't be afraid to do some roll on's.

I used to rip GT's a new *** out of the hole, but would shut it down before 80 because after 3rd the car had NOTHING.

Launching these is easy- set it at 5krpm, slip the clutch out as you go WOT and dump the clutch once it builds boost. It'll haze 1st a bit, but will clean the tires off for 2nd gear. Mind you this was on 205 RT615's.

Its now on 235's and I've given up on 1st, as it is just a pre-cleaning for getting some grip in 2nd

Pre 03's are SUPER weak though. Even the 05 GT's are slow in OEM form.

There is a lot of advice in this thread about drag racing from those who do not know **** about drag racing. Unbelievable.

I am not hat'n. Op has a 99 with a turbo. If he knows how to drive, has good tires and a good tune, he will go in the 13's.

I never give advice on turbos, but I have been to the drag strip a few times.

I know you have. But how will a 150whp miata break into the 13's?

If you look at all the videos/slips posted on this site there are VERY few miata's that actually run what they SHOULD run or CAN run. Not too many drag racers around here, or people that know how to use every last bit of power in their car correctly in a straight line, or have that specific setup.

I wouldn't be too optimistic about quarter mile times.

This isn't some mustang or dsm site where everyone and their stepmom runs 9's

Fuji Racing got some decent 1/4 mile results out of their NA ITB car…and they dragged it a few times as they continued modding.

I know there are not many drag racers. That is my point. So few put effort into a good quarter mile pass. It is really easy to get a Miata to perform well in the quarter, yet so many tout the Miata as a worthless drag car. The reality is the chassis is a great platform. On tires and some power, it leaves very hard.

I beat a 1994-98 model mustang gt on only 5psi with my greddy non intercooled with a crappy band-aid setup. Was pitiful that I put a few cars on him with that setup.

My car is way faster now.

Edit: Also, I'd say my car is in the high/mid 13 sec range now. Perhaps with a few more horses when I bump up the boost ill get a low 13. However, my setup on 5psi was probably good for mid/high 14s at best. Band aids are lame mmkay.

Remember if you car is set up right you can take this to a real track(one with turns, and junk) and you've got him.

My best time was 13.6 with an old worn set of drag radials. I was running just under 12 psi on my t28 turbo. But like everyone else said, so many factors.
