some may know about the wire tuck im doing. im going for looks and speed for this tuck and build.
A friend was showing my some honda wire tuck before and after pics and most had ABS but removed it. Got me thinking i should just convert to non-abs for a even cleaner engine bay wiretuck

I will eventually track this car so I don't know if i should keep it in case its something that's favored in driving at the track.

I know i will need the non-abs brake lines,prob valve,and brake booster and master cylinder and have all those parts ready to get to if i make the decision/

pros and cons would be nice!

Well as someone that just recently removed my abs, I figured I would give you my imput. Granted I haven't tracked my car so I can't comment on that.

As for the swap itself is easy. It took less time reinstall the new lines then it did to remove the old. A few pointers that I ran into.

Your correct on you'll need the Front Driver line, Front Passenger, the Rearward line, and the Prop line. The line that runs along your rear subframe is the same. Figure out with Prop valve you want to use. You'll need the new Master, but also make sure your Master and brake booster line up. I ran into some issue on my 91 where my brake booster and new master were compatible.

So far, on the street. I love the new non abs. I also added SS lines to my car and between the SS and the non-abs the brake pedal just feels better, more crisp.

You can put down more brake pressure at the track on sticky rubber without ABS.

What happens if an accident happens directly in front of you on the freeway, you slam the brakes and crank the wheel to get around it. But you dont turn because your brakes are locking up.

Think of abs as 'allows braking while steering' it's a great safety feature and i wish my miata had it.

I think it depends on your confidence. Do you feel confidant that you can threshold brake whenever needed? If there is an accident in front of you while its raining?

If you think you can, defiantly do it. If you are unsure, think about it.

If you do it.. I guess go to a parking lot and get used to braking to the point just before lock up. Do it in the rain too.

I have no abs and it doesn't really worry me. I say go for it, just don't drive like an idiot, leave room to brake.

The only problem with that mindset is the old cars have really crappy abs. It not a staged system and is more of an on off system. So when the abs kicks in instead of going from 100% to like 70%. It fully on fully off and it get crazy scary.

I stop faster(aka shorter distance) now that I removed my abs. That isn't counting trying to threshold. I am talking full on slamming of the brakes.

But I will say, if anyone does a non-abs swap to go out into a parking lot in the rain and learn where the threshold point is.

I would keep it. I've even considered swapping everything on my track car over to an abs equipped car to get it. Flat spotted tires get expensive. I'm sure some of you are great threshold brakers, but sometimes, in an autox or on track you may not have the presence of mind to threshold brake. Maybe I suck as a driver, but I have flatspotted quite a few tires due to lockup.
