Default Removed the PS Completely, but...I GOT E-THUGGED

Now I have a CEL it is obviously from the wire that was disconnected from the pump. Short of removing the CEL bulb, is there any other way to solve the issue? Thanks all.

I didn't get any code when I took out my pump. Take it to auto zone/advance auto and get your ecu scanned.

If I clear the code, wont it just come back when the car fires up again? I am pretty sure it will. Just like an EGR code would.

You could get your point across without being a dick. You know that, right? I will go get it checked, but damn ease up on the tone.

I find it ironic that my car, that has never thrown a code before, throws one right after I removed the PS pump and disconnected the wire from the pump.

there are probably a couple dozen other things you could have done without realizing it when you were dicking around under the hood to remove your PS... the point Ben's making is that you're just assuming that the PS delete itself is what caused your code, which NOBODY has ever reported as far as I'm aware. Thus, you have no idea what the code actually is, and are looking to us to solve the problem for you. get the code checked.

There was a post on .net about it, but a response was ever made. That is why I asked. I am just going to disconnect the neg battery cable for now, clear the ECU, then if it comes back I will have it checked. It will be a while until I go to the parts store for anything. Thanks all.

Removing ps does not throw a code.

Cars with and without ps use the exact same ecu. All cars are also prewired for ps even when they dont have it.

I'm not being a dick. You're being dense.

Pulling the battery won't clear the code in OBDII. Buy an OBDII scanner; even the dirt cheapest $30 scanner is super useful.

The wire going to the PS pump tells the computer when the PS is being used. Under IDLE conditions, the stock ecu adds a little duty cycle to the idle valve to let a little extra air around the butterflies. That's it and that's all.

Guess how many PS codes get thrown in non PS cars? Goose eggs, zero, nil. Same ecu. There is no PS code.

Read the code and fix the problem. Could be something that will effect your economy BIG TIME like an o2 sensor, or could be something stupid like a flow issue with the EGR, could have been a misfire event that will never occur again.

Please continue to call me a dick. I'll ban your *** and steal your avatar.

See, your third response is more like it, and I appreciate a reasoning behind the post, it obviously explains more, rather than "check your codes", and "are you paying attention"....besides, that's not smart dude, and dont be thinking of stealing cookie monster.
