by "running" the car i took that as "driving" it so i drove it for 2hrs...
well home depot doesn't sell kerosene anymore, so i went to academy's. $7 per gallon, i ran the engine with the ATF, flushed it out with kerosene and waited about 2hrs for all of that to drip out. Finally i filled it up with Mobil 1 and presto, the car runs even better than when i got it. Also replaced the spark plugs and wires to finish off the job...

damnitbeavis, wish i would have seen your
post earlier, you make it sound pretty easy, lol...
maybe next time i'll try it... good advice though.

Could just switch to Amsoil! I ran 5w30 and now 10w30 here in florida no more tick! Cheap **** even mobil will make her tick.
