Thumbs up So I raced a Aston Martin and a Ferrari

Saturday I was on the highway going to my friends BBQ party and out of nowhere a Middle aged man pulls next to me in a convertible Aston Martin. He looks at me and I look at him and we both go from 55-110 and I creeped away from him so I waived and got of the exit and went to my friends house smiling. Mind you my car still has the default tune on the link ecu. So, Monday I decided to try and do some tuning myself so I changed the map a little bit and jumped on the highway to test drive it. I looked next to me and another middle aged man driving a blue Ferrari (dont know the model but it's the ones that look like a Aston Martin)waves and takes off, so I speed up and pull next to him and same thing we both looked and we go and same thing I creeped away from him. I couldn't believe it! The funny thing is that I always though my car was slow cause I had a basic tune. I wish I had a good tune Cause I would blow them out of the water.

That's cool. Those guys were probably like, "look at this little Miata, does this driver think he has something?" Then you smoke em, and they were like, "Why did waste all this money just to look good."

I like getting on the track with Ferrari driving douchebags that THINK they are fast. (that also goes for M series BMW's, Maserati's and turbo Porsche's.) You know the guys. They sign up for the "advanced" group since they have a hot car. No experience, just a hot car, big ego and an F1 racing jacket. The look of shame, frustration and realization they really aren't a driving God is priceless.

You get the same look from the motorcycle track day crowd when you pass them on their new hot-**** liter bike, with a 'little' SV-650, in the middle of a corner. Love that.

Without knowing what model each car was.. I can't pass judgment on if they even knew they were racing or toying with you.
A true guy would have known what he was looking at... not like there are that many models of Ferrari or Aston

If it was a 456/456M, 612, 550 or 599...you would have had your *** handed to you..they all make 450+hp...maybe you raced a old Mondial

Aston's line isn't exactly confusing either.. DB7 (s/c 6cyl made 335hp- V12 made 420), DB9 (470hp), Vanquish (460hp..the S had 530) , V8 Vantage (380hp) or DBS (yeah..no need for HP numbers on this one).

None-the-less, it's still fun to play with high-end cars...even if it's just to see them go

Most likely would of gotten your *** handed to you if they had known how to drive, and/or had downshifted. Like doppleganger said, it's more fun just to watch and hear them be driven like they should be. A guy at work who drove an old chevelle SS pulled up to me and wanted to race. I said he'd beat me (I was still NA), he said: "don't worry, it's got the smallest 440 they made." I said alright and we took off. His car made a glorious noise as it kicked my ***.

I do enjoy that any car capable of beating me now pretty much makes a great noise doing so.

Chevy never made a 440 cubic inch engine, but I get the point. I love good engine sounds when people are getting on it. I guess that is why I'm disgusted with the horrible sounds most ricer's cars make. Where does the mentality that "tinny" and "empty" sound good come from? Who thinks that the sound of an Accord with an automatic transmission and the muffler cut off sounds sweet?

And the Vantage has a curb weight of 3770 lbs and only 380hp at the flywheel and ~320 wheel hp. Yes, I think you could take him. And let's talk about how pathetic the Ferrari 308 was in a straight line. A Toyota Tundra could embarrass one from a stop or a roll.

Don't doubt the guy too much. Our cars are light and most doctors and lawyers can't drive for crap.

I don't know the model but I know for a fact they were pushing it cause their exhaust was over powering mine and they didn't even look at me after. All I know is that they were embarrased

Funny, you're mom said I was clearly better than you, but in hindsight, that comment was more than a little disturbing.

Last time I went to the track there was a F430 and a ACR viper there, and they sounded and looked cool but I was not the only one running faster lap times than them. There where some evo guys there running fast times and another turbo miata and all of us ran better times than them.

anyway......

where were u in CT? anywhere near old saybrook?. There is a high end car dealer that opened recently and it just got a DB9 convertible. The guy had it for the weekend and I saw it all over the place.... along with a 599. Wouldn't be surprised if it was those cars.

Besides clearly toasting Aston's and Ferrari's, Miataspeed can talk smack all he wants. He has flares, 16" SSR wheels and BFG TA's! I had TA's on my 68 Chevelle I drove in high school back in 1982. They were the shizzle with the raised white letters!

Whether or not those cars were trying, capable or whatever, it's fun hearing and watching them work. When they wouldn't look over did they give you the ricer flyby?

it's not untuned it's just safe tuned. Car runs and idles perfect! It's just not pushed to it's limit... And I'm not bragging about it I was surprised that my car was faster then theirs.

Flares and ssr are for my taste. If you don't like them I don't care, there's plenty of people that hate miatas and we still drive them. As for the tires they are not the regular t/a's, ther are the g-force and they are pretty good on wet and dry weather for the streets.

Maybe I fliped out a little too much but I just hate when people talk **** when I'm just sharing a story about what had happened this week.
So I'm didn't start this tread to brag, cause I know my car it's not super fast 200-210 whp, I just simply wanted to tell you that I beat a Ferrari and Aston Martin and I was surprised
