Default Lets talk about something that doesn't add power...just pure awesomeness!

I wanted to start a thread talking all about aftermarket body alteration...fastback kits, fender flares, flush light kits ect...

I'm starting a build on my '93 and want to make it look as sick as I can make it an wanted to get opinions on some different kits an such...

Has anyone here installed or seen or have any experience with the oracle flush mount headlight kits?? Sure they look sick but how well do they perform?? How are their light output an such for night driving??

I don't want to sacrifice functionality for looks and want to really make sure before I drop a few hundred bucks on these.

Any comments corrections criticism ect is welcome an thank you for your time an info

Know what would be awesome?
If your miata looked like a '69 Mach1.

Ha...naw let the Americans (my Mach) stick to power an let the Lil foreign cars like my miata stick to what counts...you know power to weight ratios an well being able to turn...lol

Kinda along those lines go to YouTube an search Stacy David's gearz the banshee if you haven't seen this already. Baisicly he takes a more modern stab at the '66 Shelby cobra using a miata as his base...kinda interesting.

Yeah, I know the setup. I hate it.
Why on earth would you put a carburated small block ford with a cast iron block in a Miata, when you have the bolt in option of an all aluminum LS GM motor with fuel injection?

Then don't install a body kit. Seriously, they add weight and drag, that's it. Wasted money, wasted time, and they don't generally look good. The only ones we approve of are fender flares to fit 15x10 wheels with giant slicks, COTA wings, functional splitters, diffusers with a full underbody, and lightweight hardtop fastback shells to improve aero over your wing.

If you MUST install a kit, a GV replica lip on the front and some bolt on flares look good, you'll obviously need wider wheels with a lower offset to "utilize" the flares, and coil overs to "utilize" the lip. For the back, I prefer bone stock or a little lip, unless you're going to full race mode like the above mentioned COTA wing.

If for some reason you are serious, go register at ClubRoadster.net Main. They will help you spend all of your money on ill-fitting body kits, wings to create lift, give you some stance to ruin handling and hella-sicc projector headlights.

If you then come to your senses and still have some money left over, come back here.

I think those are the same as the AAC flushmounts. I have the carbon fiber kit, just recently installed. They still need a lot of adjustment because, currently, the light distribution sucks. However, I bought them primarily to simplify the engine bay and remove some weight. And because I thought they looked cool two years ago when I bought them for a decent price.

Flush headlights are useless. I put the origina Midtenn Miata ones on my car many many years ago when the motors on my motorized ones failed. The light output straight ahead was great. The lightput anywhere else besides you was god awful. At this point instead of buying new headlight motors and going back to stock, I bought a fiberglass bumper that had mounts for fog/driving lights. This rectified the problem sort of, but ended up costing me so much after I got it fitted/painted. What I'm trying to say is, friends don't let friends install flush headlights.

If you are going to go body kit the only one to go is the Invader style. Like a boss.

You also need chrome wheels and bottom beads hanging on your rear view.

there is no such thing as awesomeness if the only purpose is looks. Small visual cues, like painting or removing badges or whatever, that's fine, but body kits with no reason for being? Fail.

OMFG.

Y8s sold his Miata so he could carpool his kids.

Hustler went normally aspirated.

Now we're talking body kits?

At least we have a couple of decent gun threads going . . . so I can shoot myself.
