PushToStart keyless ignition finally happening.
so i've always been fantasizing about a push to start feature on any car..even before they were "cool"
anyways, i finally got the ***** to do one on my miata. i am going for full key-less ignition.
to the point that the keylock from the steering column is coming out and i will only need the key to open the doors.
this is a "track car" not a daily and will be mostly parked and garaged anyways.
the final product will not have the labels...although i've been thinking of adding labels from a label maker...and someone offered to do laser cutting..but i dunno yet.
this plate seems fairly easy to do and the wiring is straightforward. i'll see if there is enough interest and ask to see of one can get a laser cut piece that would be much better to install..if price is right i may go that route.
for now, it is ALL DIY
so here is a template of what i envision the outcome to be:
after seeing some online i thought this was the best approach. cheapest too.
there will be two ON-OFF switches to control Ignition and Accessories, one Push to start, and two ON-OFF-ON switches to control the windows. plus one ON-OFF-ON to contorl the pop-up lights.
i had the idea of doing independent up down siwtches for each headlight..but need to figure out the wiring first.
so i went online and bought the necessary hardware:
plus the push start i'll show later but it is basically the s2k push start switch and pigtail
this is my platform.
and this is all holes drilled and switches installed.
still need to do wiring.
i will be using this schematic to do the window siwtches
got the idea from this site: Custom Retro Electric Window Switches — revlimiter.net
as they are using somehting similar to replace the stock switches for toggle switches
i'll be working today on the wiring and installation of the push start button.
more to come.

Cool stuff. I'd be interested to see the ignition schematic if you have one. My key is horrible to start the car. I assume it's a copy of a copy of a copy and sometimes take a minute of giggling to get it to turn. I've thought about doing something similar but I need someone to hold my hand on stuff like that. Just have to be sure not to fix the car up too much so nobody wants to steal it.

i'm working on a write up.

There ya go. One ignition schematic courtesy of a page that's been on the internet since 2001.
revlimiter.net - S2000 Starter Button (90-97 Version)
And as for the extra IGN and ACC switches, you could just put the switches in the middle and see what happens. But a high current SPST relay on both would probably be better.
