Default Turn signal not working?

Well, it's almost time to inspect my miata so, I go check everything out and the right turn signal is giving a fast click but no lights. I figure new bulbs get new bulbs and still nothing? I don't even have a light flashing in dash for right turn signal but I do for the left. A friend and I checked out a few things in the rear, and it seems there is a short somewhere in the harness past the left signal. The right side license plate light doesn't work and turn signal doesn't work but, I have brake and revese lights? Checked everything normal fuses and blubs any ideas guys?

TIA
James

Maybe try following your wiring, try to find a wiring diagram and turn the signal on, and do voltage drop tests to see where your short or open may be

Well, I finally broke down and took it to an electronic diag. place. The problem was I had a short in the harness, and it fused together and that blew the flasher. So, 500 dollars later it's fixed, thanks for the suggestions.

If I had seen this earlier I could have told you it was the flasher unit thingy (small gray box) Mine failed a while back and after testing the flasher assembly behind the steering wheel and whatnot I finally found out what it was.

I love seeing simple fixes after I just spent an arm and a dick.

I'm not doubting his thinking. I could have very well done the same in his spot. I'm pointing out that it's probably a LITTLE frustrating discovering there's a simple fix after you've spent a lot of money. Feel me?

Oh I feel you. I was trying to be sarcastic.

Thanks for the link. I would be livid if it was just this. Fortunately i know it was this and another problem. The flasher wasn't the problem originaly the harness fuzed together then blew the flasher, I would never have found it on my own seeing as it took a professional electrical mechanic more than a few hours to track it down. However if this does happen again (out of the work warranty) I'll start here.

I was thinking the flasher module would be the problem but I hadn't started looking for it, but after looking at that link I ripped it out and sure enough, problem solved. About the easiest fix yet! Now back to the bullshit like putting the head back on! AGain

I just picked up a 96' that has this problem, no turn signals on the right side. Now the question is do I want to pull the flasher now or wait until its warmer than 12* degrees out!

its not hard, remove the metal plate above your knees and you will spot it slid on a prong in the jumble of wires
