Chris; how about giving us some additional info on your car for starters?

No matter the year of your car; if I were you, I'd start with an MS and a new clutch before anything else.

Drive your car with the MS while still NA and learn the tricks.

Best advice ever. I built a MS last winter and drove through the summer playing with it and learning it so that when i finally do install my turbo parts this spring its one less hurdle to overcome.

why not spend $2k on turbo parts and have a turbo'ed miata?

I'm thinking BEGI kit!!!!!!!!!!!! And throw $200 with it for the ms. they will substitute a ms for the afpr and bipes, for the same cost diference between the 2. Another words they add up hpw much bipes and the fmu cost in the kit, and take that off the kit price and add in the cost of the ms..

Good luck. But if I had no extra cash coming my way, and only $2000. For sure begi kit, or a complete used kit name brand kit, and ms.
With that much money you should be able to get the works used. Or a awsome Begi S kit!

Getting the DIY MS kit would be the cheapest route for you but since you're 'kinda dumb but not totaly' you should probably stay 10 years away from that and just stick with the PNP. Do you have any plans for exhaust? If it were me I'd get some other goodies first like wheels, tires, springs, shocks, MS, etc. You should stockpile turbo parts little by little and then finally piece it together once you have everything. You've also got a **** ton of homework to do before you go slapping a turbo on your car.

i'd do the brakes, suspension, radiator, clutch, roll bar and then change all the fluids (i don't take anyone's word for "new" unless i have proof). if i had anything left over i'd save for a turbo kit. make sure the car is truly ready for boost so you don't find yourself having to fix broken parts instead of enjoying your car.

actually...that sounds hauntingly like what i am doing. i've had a few cars i've modified and did some things in a sequence i didn't necessary regret, but would have changed if i could.
