Default Swap help and options

Hello everyone im new here as you can see, im having problems deciding what i want to do for my 1999 miata. Im planning on converting my car into a track/daily driver for until i can afford a new car and make it a full time track car

I know the bp engine is a potent powerplant in turbocharged form but i want to go with something else. My two choices are 1: honda f20c for NA and 2: toyota gen 3 3sgte out of a sw20 mr2 for turbo

I understand both will need fabrication to fit and i think both swaps would cost about the same price in the end

The 3sgte goes for 1500, needs a w series tranny, a rwd intake manifold coil pack ignition a new oil pan and either choice is going to be supported with a standalone ecu.

F20 go for about 3500 and come setup for rwd. Like i said i know they both will need custom fab to fit in but i know either choice WILL fit.

Supporting mods will be a tune, and a valvetrain and camshaft upgrade for both of them, a gt2871r fast spooling turbo for the 3sgte , exaust etc.... i plan on 300+ for turbo and 230-240 hp NA. Both have parts readily available. Driveability will not be altered. (Vtec is a beautiful thing).

If you guys had to choose either what would you pick? Or if you think another swap would be more cost effective and deliver the same ammounts of hp let me know (2.0) liter only

The sw20 would be a ball ache with it being the wrong way and all in the mr2.

A few f20 swaps have happened and are awesome. Google it and I'm sure you'll find some.

That said. The bp if tuned right' is perfectly fine and reliable for track. I kick the **** out of mine and it still goes strong.

Why go through all the effort for 300whp?

Build a BP, ****, buy a TSE built motor and boost it.

Ug, I've seen too many of these threads. Kid, it ain't gonna happen. If you're actually going to swap in one of these engines, you probably would of decided and started without us. For the same money you can have a potently rebuilt BP and turbo setup.

That being said, don't rule out lexus V8 or LS engine.

I understand where your coming from, ive seen many swaps in many cars, and we all have to start somewhere. Why? Because we want to. I seen a 4g63 swapped into a fox body the other day. did it make sense? hell no, but i thought it was cool and different. Everyone and there mother has a built bp or a lsx stuffed into there miata. Belive me, i can make it happen. But your opinion is appreciated. The "cost effective" thing wasnt the right thing to say because building a bp is way more cost effective than any swap. Even if its a stupid question i was still curious to see peoples opinions on the two. I dont have the money to burn on this right now, but when i do i will make sure miataturbo.net will see it.

To be honest i was going to see if i can have a basic foam model of a 3sgte or f20 made to use as a reference. I see alot of people doing it with v8's now

I think that using the search button with f20c or 3age as a search term would be a bad idea if that's what I was curious about.

Hey guysth, I have a 20 year old car as a dd because i'm just a kid, but becauth i have the mentality of a kid i want to swap a completely different drivetrain into it becauth i know those other drivetrains have street cred. BTW, i have no money for this swap and no fabrication skills to do any of the work. Awethum, huh? Pleath don't call me a douchth.
