Default temp sensor sending unit for gauges in 94

Not sure where this belongs, but the guro's here should know. I busted the sending unit for the temp gauge, and I really dont want to have to fix it, I plan on adding temp gauges for water and oil anyway (maybe sooner then later) but what I'm not sure about is if it controls anything other then the instrument panel gauge?

Thats the 1.6. The gauge sending unit is the blue arrow. Exact same place, only on the other side for the 1.8. Green on very top is the PCM's reference on the 1.8. The gauge is controlled by blue arrow, does nothing else but the gauge.

Edit; I broke mine too once, and its a real mfer to replace. The ProSport sending unit is the exact same thread but is a little too deep to fit into the stock opening. That took me over an hour to figure out :(

I have a spare one laying around if you're interested in buying one cheap?

Sure, do you need anything from a stock 94. I just ripped mine apart, I have the entire dash, center console, air bags, steering wheel, condensor, heater core, blower unit, radio, hvac controls, dash cover, exhaust (not really, had to cut it to get it out), exhaust manifold, and a bunch of other stuff. I am going to try and get some pics of everything and offer it up to anyone here willing to help out with tuning MSPNP and any other issues I seem to be having.

Funny thing about modifiying stuff, easy part is adding the mods, hard part is all the other **** you break on the way in or out!

Also, I am thinking I should get an oil temp gauge, I remember seeing the one someone posted where they put it in the drain plug. While I think this is fine for a street vehicle, I dont want any parts hanging off the bottom (especially crytical ones like oil keepers!). As anyone who tracks these cars knows, **** happens, and it usually happens at the track.

FYI, my 1.8 in the 95 did not have the temp sensor mounted quite like that. When I did the motor swap, the temp sensor I put in by accident was one from an esort (the voltages are messed for the gauge...). Otherwise, no impacts. The green sensor on the back of the head (where the flange is that most people use for the re-route) is the one for the ECU.... The other sender is just for the gauge.

It's actually mounted perpendicular to the motor and you can get in there with a 10mm wrench IIRC. It's above where the heater core hose mounts on the back of the head..... You can do it with a long enough extension, with the motor in the car. You just have to work around the coils and the heater core hoses......

the MSPNP is reading temps correctly and fan is cycling on and off correctly, I was going to wait to install some better gauges, but i may move ahead with it sooner. I am going to see how much the part is first as I kept the instrument panel with all the guages in the car for now. It will costs a lot to get a whole new set of good gauges and I dont feel like dropping another 1k right now, just want to try and get things sorted first. Also, I took it for the first test ride, and I think I will need a clutch, seems to be slipping under boost.
