Default Time for a new roll bar

Well I guess it is time for a new roll bar, since my current bar won't pass tech for the race series I am running this season. It follows NHRA regulation which requires a minimum of 1.75" OD tubing x .118 wall thickness. My current HD M2 Sport bar falls short at 1.5"OD. While I actually doubt that they will measure it, I want to play it safe so that I don't waste waking up early on a Sunday to fail tech.

I had the M2 Sport because of my Robbins glass window top, but I am ditching the soft top and bolting on a hardtop for good, so I just have to worry about clearing the hard top now.

Seems like my options are limited to A) HD M1 Hard Core Hard Top Double Diagonal, and B) Autopower Race bar

I like the Autopower Race bar because it seems to have a removable diagonal to the floor but can't find ANY pictures of it actually in a Miata. I can only find the generic photo they provide on their website. Don't really see how it would be pulled off while retaining the passenger seat.

Just curious if anyone has any experience with the Autopower bars. All I can find are pictures of the "street" bar.

no experience with the Autopower bar but interesting in buying your M2 Sport if you are selling and willing to ship. PM me if so.

I think I am going to wait until I have a new bar before selling this current bar, but trust me, you guys will get the heads up before I post it for sale else where.

The one in the pic from Goodwinn's site is the "regular" one, the one I got from him is the "race" one, it's a little taller, mounts lower behind the seat, and has an addition diagonal bar. From what Ive seen, the Autpower race bar mounts a little lower behind the seat and the mounts looks more beefier. But regardless, both brands are SCCA legal and thats all that matter. This is my second bar and I have no problems with it.

Note, if you get the Race bar, the side latches will NOT work. As you can see here, the bars are wider so you have to take the side latches or else it will scratch up the bar. Mine are since off and I have no problems.

Thanks Sam!

Looks to be the same design as the HDHCHT bar, just with a removable harness bar and support bar, which I was hoping would go to the floor. I would rather have the one piece HD bar in that case.

Import Wars (Quick 16). Sucks that its bracket but it seems to be the only class that I fall into while in the 12s.

Flipside builds one. http://www.flipsidecustoms.com/

No idea how long it would take to make one or how much it would cost though.

How about this one. This is Kelly's old bar. (WOT)
Email Rob at flipside, see what he says. Both of these are chromoly i think. The one with the downbar might be DOM. He can do whatever you want though.

Great!, Welcome aboard! Join the forum at http://www.hondaddy.com/forum/ and ask prescott any questions you may have about quick 16. Prescott has won quick 16 the past 2 years with the Underdog 1956 VW Bug (runs in the 11s).

So quick 16 is the right class for me then? Seems to be the only class from 12.9 to 11.0. I'll have to jump on that board later, I have a ton of questions haha.

Yeah, quick 16 or class B I think would be right for you. Class B is included only because most cars run a few .100s slower when the weather gets really hot.

Yeah, class b is 13.00 - 13.99, but all the guy who are winning are running 12.9X and touching the brakes near the finish line.
