Wow, are there a lot of folks on this forum warm and welcoming like this? I've been in the miata scene since '91 and have had various forums of a turbo since '96 but... am new to this forum. Yes, I agree on the search ethic but lighten up a little. Not everyone has all day to look for an answer to a question that is buried somewhere. BTW, some of the sacred forum info from dated posts aren't exactly current anymore so it doesn't hurt to ask some of the same questions. I used to be sensitive to reading the same questions on other forums, but it's the nature of it. I got over it. A reply like this one is just is brilliant. Feel proud.

ban.

ps, thanks leebo.. everyone is always trying to ban people... i get sick of it so if someone says ban me, i write back with ban to them.

1.8 Diff swaps can be had for $200-$600+ it seems depending on how good you are at shopping. If it doesn't have the ring and pinion you want they can be had 2nd hand or new as well. Price will vary on those, i've seen 3.9 gears for $150 all the way up to $350.

so heres a quick question for you... in 5th... how much rpm loss is there?
I dont want to lose too much because the track is 3,4,5... is there much of a difference in the 4.1 and the 3.9? or even is there a big dif between the 4.3 and the 4.1? noticable?

Like that's my problem? OHH SEARCHING THE FORUM IS TOO HARD ILL JUST ASK THE SAME STUPID QUESTIONS OVER AND OVER AGAIN. Even I do a goddamn search every time I have a question, and then I take the info I get from that search and post a thread - with the info I've already gathered - and ask for opinions on my particular setup. If this guy had come into the thread saying "hey guyz i wanna swap my R&P for a lower one, but i dunno how much lower to go, how does everyone like their 3.9/3.6" he would have gotten a bunch of good responses and this would have been a nice thread where everyone can compare their ****.

This is not a polite forum, and we (or at least I) don't tolerate stupid **** like this. There is so much info and so much work put into the various FAQs, and so much can be found with a few minutes of searching, that I have absolutely no tolerance for people who think the entire forum is their question and answer service. You wanna solicit opinions about a setup, or share your stuff, or ask questions about a new product, that's fine, but asking **** that has been covered over and over and over and over again is annoying as ****, and on this forum, you get called out for it.

i dont mean to point out the obvious, but if you dont want to answer the question, no one is forcing you to... and this thread started as me asking if the bell housings were the same on the 1.6 and the 1.8 and for the 6spd. then it turned into other things, such as a whole new rear end, then we started talking about different ratios, would you like me to start a new one?

Yeah that annoying, just like reading your profanity. Don't worry, I'm done posting to this thread. Not worth it. This is off topic anyway.

Please don't start a new thread.
On the track you will really appreciate the 3.9, i think total RPM drop in 5th is around 300 RPM just off the top of my head, might be a little more or less. Could be closer to 200 RPM.
Here are some good websites to look at:

+1

Newb, you need to spend more time reading about our cars. Your horing up our forum with lots of stupid simple questions that have been answered so many times. I guarantee you the anwer to your questions can be answered with a simple search.

hey ------, we all have better things to than answer your stupid ******* question...like fingerbang our sphincters. Your total inability to do anything for yourself is just about the most excrutiating thing I've ever been through in my life. I'd rather watch competitive elephant ejaculation than read your bullshit threads. Use the ******* search button, and stop posting immediately or you'll have to deal with my wrath. You do not want to **** me off. Do not let it happen again.

you're probably one of those hot-shot poseurs on the track who ******* cries in his sleep and runs his mouth while I post up faster times and go home to bang my supermodel girlfriend.
