Default Tires on 14" BSS rims

WOOHOO!! Time for some new tires. Now, the question is what size to go with. I have 185/60R14 now. would it be possible to get something a little wider? if so, what does everyone else with the 14" bbs put on?

If it was me... and it wasn't going to be a winter tire... 14"s get 195/60/14 Azenis RT-615s.

yep. The best track tire this side of ra-1's. I run those just because they're cheap and light on the little, ugly wheels. You can also get 205/55/14 nitto nt-555 drag radials which are the same construction and compound as the ra-1, but a different tread pattern.

I wasn't thrilled with the tread-life of my Azenis (on BBS 14"). It's not very cheap if you get less than 10k miles on them! I went with the last set of Toyo T1-S that edgeracing had (so paid ~$45 per tire) in 195/55/14 and am pretty pleased for around-town spirited driving. The sidewall isn't nearly as stiff as the Azenis, so the road imperfections are soaked up a bit (which is good with the stock Bilsten LE/R-pkg suspension). But that said, I'd never track it with these tires, and I probably would only buy them again if another deal came up (with the T1-R).

Right, but on the track the azenis will outlast anything aside from the ra-1's.

OP didn't mention the use of the tires, so I just thought I'd offer another viewpoint.

Yeah, I have a one-track mind.

I love my 195-60-14 Hankook RS-2s. Better wet traction than the azenis which is important in houston.

I'd cram the 225/40/14 Toyo T1Rs on there for maximum width and low low gearing!

I'm trying to decide if I want to switch to ra-1's and buy a tire tail or not. I don't know if I'm ready for ra-1's yet, and / or if thats too much grip for my naivitae.

what about Azenis 912s? i know they're all-season, but they're comfortable as HELL and they last forever (UTQ 360)

I don't think I'll ever think I'm "ready" for that much grip though. I've done 8 hpde's now...I don't know.

there are track tires, and high mileage tires. I see no point in anything in between.

912s ARE high mileage tires. so yes there is a point. obviously A/S tires yield higher mileage than your RT615/RS2...

i just softened the TEINs all the way around yesterday. that + the 912s make the miata actually livable. i just can't have 2 roadsters pounding my kidneys 7 days a week...

I have 195/55/14 Toyo T1-R's. On the street they are awsome, but on the 3 autocrosses I've had them on my car is all over. I think it is mostly the 195 width, but I can't say for sure (my not so great driving might be behind it as well?).
