Is a race between to mid 15 second cars really a race?

Most Miata drivers can't launch with a good diff. It took me a while to pull 1.8 60 foots with a Torsen on street tires at about 200 whp.

I'll wager that both cars pull a 2.5 60 foot and run 15 second passes if the Miata doesn't barf the diff.

It must suck to drive a turbo Miata slower than a C6Z.

Maybe later. I have no doubt that I could get a high-11 out of this car if I drove it like a man at the dragstrip...but I only have one spare 6-speed and 1-spare 3.63 rear end. I've jacked with them before on the highway and they walk me just a tad above 90mph or so, most likely due to aero-fail. On a roadcourse, when they block me on track-out then drag race me to the next corner I have no problems putting the car in front of them.

If the Mustang has done any kind of ECU retuning with some breathing mods it could go in the high 14's, but will probably be mid 15's. In August I was running 12PSI on my 300ZX T25 turbo with a horrible timing chart and the best I could do was a 14.4. My 60 foot times were in the 1.9, so from the line I would pull every car I went up against, but they would all beat me on the top end of the track. The SR20 T25 is a bit bigger then mine, so you'll have more top end, but at 8psi it will be close.

If you're worried about destroying your rear end (I blew up my 1.6 diff years ago), then don't do a burnout in the burnout box. Just drive around it and launch lightly from cold tires. You could also just drive through the water and get your tires wet, so that when you launch your tires won't hook up fully (of course this will make you slower, and people will probably think you're a douche).

Or you could dump your clutch in the burnout box, and do a rev limiter burn through the start line, and then blow up your diff at launch.

** Just reminiscing about one of my races. I was going up against a modified RX-7 FD, and I had a huge lead on him at half track, then I start to hear his turbo finally begin to spool and he blasted by me... even though I lost it was awesome.

Wow, this thread blew up fast! I will get pics of the ricestang on monday if he drives it to work, and my car also. I'm going to call around the yards and see if anyone has a 1.8 diff or parts to complete a torsen swap. It sounds like it may be a close race.

I do agree that he should drive his own car or he is an aids infested vagina.

No. You should refuse to race unless he drives his own car. Just refuse. You are racing him, not some 90lb ringer with a pro-street pedigree.
If the ringer driver loses the douche owner will blame the driver and nothing will be settled. Tell him to man up or give up ***** out.

I will talk to him on monday. Then when I get my $100 bucks he will probably let my buddy drive to see if my car is actually faster than his.

Additional camera in the stands and another at the finish line. Do it proper with a couple buddies so we can get the whole deal, not just the gopro in car!

You're kidding of course? That takes the driver out of it.

Power/weight = win there (Miata every time, neither car will even do 140..)

The possibility of a chunked diff or crappy launch but still coming around at the finish, getting time slips; track is better. Plus he will be publicly humiliated for talking up his car, not driving it & losing to a 1.6 Miata if this is done at a drag strip. Definitely need to video this!
