I do not like the water neck on the front of the engine. I have a reroute so I would like to pull the neck and put a freeze plug in the head.

Thing is though, I am using one of the bungs on the neck as a coolant return from the turbo. The coolant feed is on the water pump outlet pipe.

What would be a good water return location? Should I just tap another bung into the water pump outlet pipe? I'm not sure that would flow properly though..

No, the water neck is the feed/source. The water INLET pipe is the return. Coolant flows from the heater core into the water pump through that pipe.

Everything behind the water pump is a source. everything behind the thermostat is a return (upper hose, rad, lower hose).

There's lines off the TB, the oil/water cooler, and your block should still have the port down by the dipstick.

Not 100% sure on this, but on the NBs I think only the MSMs got those ports. Otherwise there's nothing there.

If you're using a spacer on the back of the head for your reroute, you could have a port there to feed the turbo?

BTDT. Take the line off the TB. Just be sure to secure it so that it doesn't get into the belts.

LOL @ Faeflyper.

If you're eliminating the water neck just take the line that would go to the water neck from the TB and feed your turbo with that. Then put the return where the other side of the water neck goes - to the water pump inlet. You're basically substituting the turbo for the water neck.
