I looked at several kits before contacting Exomotive. I went this direction for many reasons. Some of which, in no particular order, are functionality, proximity, cost, openness of their chief engineer to share data publicly, and rapid and friendly email response. Love or hate the cosmetics, I don't care. Cosmetics are a secondary concern to me. The car actually does not photograph well, and I was surprised how much better it looks in person.
Ding ding ding. I've noticed that I enjoy the build process and eventually get bored with a finished car. Frankly I've owned many Miatas over the last 13 years, they've been great to me, but it's time to freshen things up. I'm excited about taking on the project. I think it's going to be a load of fun to build and drive.
Actually Exomotive is now the manufacturer. The kits are assembled 30 minutes from our shop. This opens up many opportunities, not just for Ben to get a new fun car, but also for DIYAutoTune.com to partner with Exomotive and help release some great new products that will benefit us both, as well as benefit our many customers that I expect we will mutually share. It just felt like a natural partnership to me.

They're limited by the front subframe aren't they? That's the benefit over a 7 kit, yes? No new subframe, steering rack, drive shaft, or suspension arms? I think they did a lot with the looks for what they had to work with.

Correct. The Exocet retains the Miata's front and rear subframes, suspension, brakes, engine, driveshaft, transmission, differential, and axles. And any engine swap that fits into a Miata should also fit in the Exocet. Some sort of LS1 type swap is a viable option for the chassis, one day.

Yep, in the GRM thread Warren hints at Exocet specific wiring harnesses and ECU's developed specifically for the chassis.......so buying bits and pieces could make since if you can't find a decent donor.
And with Ben, if you go read the GRM thread I linked, we all asked alot of questions which Warren was more than forthright about. So even though now my goals don't seem to line up with an Exocet build (unless the money situation changes drastically in the next 18 months)..........I still think it's an awesome platform with a lot of potential.
I'll be watching this thread with excitement.

MS3-Pro (01-05 MSPNP Prototype) tuning on the donor car

A little fat still in that 2500-3000 range, but overall a much better fuel curve than what the stock ECU provides. A little higher rev limiter, too. OK, a lot higher. An extra 500 rpm.

It would pick up a few more hp up top if a little fuel was taken out. The car's really no dyno queen though, it's too stock to make any impressive amount of power.
