Underbody Aero Thread (splitters, panels, vortex generators)
#103
yup! I read about the aero of a golf ball a few years ago it was fascinating. I'm not going to pretend to be an expert or anything like that, but I seem to recall that inducing micro vortecies on the surface makes for a turbulant boundry layer. That boundry layer will consequently stay attached further around the trailing edge leaving a smaller wake and thus less drag.
very cool stuff.

Well, i have an event this weekend... and last minute decided to finally start my splitter.
Not that I don't have enough random things to finish before the 2day event as is... sigh.
Here is the progress so far.
Things left to do:
Rear reinforcement plate
"wheel cover" pieces on sides of bumper/lip/splitter. Covering the wide front tires widebody style.
Strut supports for sides of splitter
For event:
Oil change
build laptop mount
build gps mount
build mini LCD mount for laptimer/gps

Splitter vs no splitter flow/pressure maps, cant find the other aerodynamic thread so i'm posting it here.

Speaking of this thread also. Splitter (and wing) is hopefully going to be finished by the last race of the year. Going to use the air damn as the spats so that I can make aerofoil profiles for my canards (which can be 15% of my 8sqft total wing area).
