Default Utopian Drivetrain

So I've been wondering for a while what the best engine and/or trans. setup would be based on hp and tq potential (and where they are in the power band), responsiveness, reliability, and such. Basically, if you weren't restricted by money, time, or space what engine would you be rockin'? One restriction: it has to be a production engine...otherwise we'd all say an old school F1 engine running 50psi. And one other thing, I guess I should specify that it would be for road racing and not drag, although if you want to list some good drag engines go ahead.

Judd V8 with straigh-cut sequential dogbox. If that's not production enough, built LSx with afore mentioned tranny.

Maytag horizontally opposed twin from the random picture thread and a sequential gearbox from a KZ125.

Bored and Stroked 2.5 MZR with Cosworth cyl head, giganticam, and IRTBs.

What ever transmission and rearend that would hold up to an all out N/A MZR.

Maybe nitrous.

In the miata right? All aluminum LS v8 motor with some badass heads and valvetrain, sequential gearbox, tru-trac or whatever diff is similar to a Torsen but can handle the power. Torque baby.

Normally aspirated, high compression, high rev, bigger cube, wide powerband, light small lump tucked lower and further back. Could be 4 or 6 holes with this car without making it too unbalanced.

4 wheel drive. Two LS motors. One front mount. One rear mount. Single 100mm turbo for both motors. Or something like that.

YES

Or: One of those busa v8 jobs, punched out to 3.2L. Do a bunch of porting and bullshit and make the redline sky-high (like 13-14k). Staged shower injectors above the velocity stacks. Keep the bike trans for sequential action, with a button on the dash you press for reverse.

^If that isn't production enough, turbo busa motor, punched to 1.6L. same ****.

Run a shaft off of where the chain drive would go. Rear end something with an OS giken something.

So a miata with one large trailer to house the engine, and another one for fuel?

Ford Racing 427 Boss (500/500 in NA config), T-56 w/GM F-body gearing (4th = 1:1, 5th = 0.75, 6th = 0.50), '99 Cobra 8.8 IRS Torsen w/ final drive to match final HP/TQ numbers....

...then write Corky a blank check to "improve" things!

+1 on this 600 reliable whp and 600fbtq at 2500+ rpm only weighing 100lbs more than stock.
