Hey guys, I have a 99 turbo miata with the FM link piggy back system. It retains the mass air sensor and the bov is recirculated. I wanna vent the bov to atmosphere but the car doesnt run right if I do. Is there any way around this without effecting the performance of the vehicle?

It's gonna take an upgraded ecu system. Standalone or piggyback.

You may be able to vent it if your BOV completely seals. I may be wrong but the ECU takes into account a certain air volume and if that air is lost (VTA) it can really screw up your idle. I had a 2G DSM that I vented, and it stumbled like crazy, and I had a friend whose vented w/ no sweat. Either way, get a damn standalone and dont bother with a piggyback. MS ftw. (i'm biased).

well my bov is a turbonetics adjustable, so theoretically I could tighten it down until its shut at idle, but then I have to take into consideration compressor surge. But the thing is, will the car stutter between shifts or will that affect anything? Sorry guys, I've built a few turbo hondas but they use MAP sensors which are way different.

The car will run rich between shifts. You need to convert from a MAF to a MAP sensor, and that will require something like an MS or a Hydra or something that allows you to delete the MAF.

There is no other "proper" way to do it.

Look at Apexi's Neo afc. I haven't played with one too much but it has a function like 'deceleration air'. I guess that's to allow a bov on maf.
