Default Well 1 thing lead to another...

I dont have boost as yet but i am preparing for it. Matter of fact my car doesnt even run, not exactly sure why but i figure its the ecu.

I have a TEC3 sitting around and ive ordered the trigger kit from racing mazda (they arent the promptest at getting stuff out but so long as i get it).
So i started taking out the wiring harness parts that i dont need but then i remembered the lightweightmiata.com project and decided i would try to get the most i could out.

Spent the whole day pulling wires and disconnecting. Ive clipped every wire coming off the ecu as far as i could down the harness. I'm also taking out all the airbag sensors...those little bad boys are heavy! Just have to rerun the wires and tape everything up. I also have to figure out a few wires to run to the tec but with that should be a minor thing.

While i was under the hood i got tired of screwing around with wires so i decided to get started on the coolant reroute. I've taken the thermostat housing off and am going to get it modified. I will pick up some 1" aluminum tubing and some rubber hoses tommorow along with a new thermostat. Pix should be up in a few days of the completed conversion.

I also cut the bracing off from the underside of the hood....its a floppy thing now but i cant see it weighing more than 5lbs.

I have some bomz coil overs on the way and will be ordering the fatcat mounts this week .

I'm hoping to have a functional car in a week or 2 so i can stop buming rides every where lol

Yep- reminds me of my last race car, installed a wire-in ecu in a 99 with redundant circuits. I still have night mares.

cleaned up the driver side of the engine bay and gave it a new coat of paint....flat black of course

ive routed the wires for the lights differently, closter to the fender, cleans up that side rather well. gonna shorten the lights wiring harness a bit tommorow as i ran out of light.

and incase anyone is wanting to do the water reroute you will need 1.25" tubing, i got 1" today and it just fits inside the thermostat housings outlet now i gotta find the receipt

It won't last long. Then the doors get gutted and the top comes off. It never ends <G>...

im actually looking to replace the door windows with plexi. I know i should use lexan but no where on island sells lexan, and the windows will be rolled down whenever its being driven so it should be a problem

i DOUBT i will go as far as you did as the top has to stay on and im keeping the key barrel on the steering column etc....You have been a great inspiration though

im getting there slowly but surely.

Took all the egr stuff i wont need off the intake mani and whatever was bolted to the bottom of the throttle body and am making blanking plates for them.

Mocked up the tec's new home (under the radio) and ran the wires through the fire wall. Mounted the coils and checked to see if the plug wires i made for the last car would fit and they do.

I cannot break the damned crank pulley bolt though, 5th gear, hand brake and no dice, the car tries to move for a bit then the clutch slips..... i think the stock clutch is DONE.
