What would you do?
Ok guys, the guy thats doing my engine work has already taken two months.... and its still not done. I left a $100 dollar deposit. What would you guys do? Right now im thinking just wait it out. I dont want to **** him off and do a shitty job. Oh and he has about $1,100 dollars worth of internals... I need some opinions. Thanks in andvance, Mike

Boaring .020, honing, cleaning my head/valves, weight matiching rods and pistions and thats about it. I have supplied him with all parts besides freze plugs. I also will be doing all of the assembling.

What type of shop is it? It took about 3 weeks for all my machine work to get finished. I also didn't tell them to hurry though and was near the beginning of race season. I would give them a call and ask what is going on, or stop by and ask whats up.

The name is engine craft, they do nothing but engines. Hes in the middle of moving his shop about 45 min away, so im understanding of that, but its been 2 months! Im the same way, i dont want to make him hurry because the motors going to be supporting a lot of power. I called him yesterday, and their was no answer so i left a message. looks like im going to be making a house call....

Go pick your stuff up and go elsewhere, I had mine done in 4 days, and they where putting larger valves in my head and balancing my entire rotating assembly, cleaning, decking the bock and head, and polishing the crank. I am also a very particular customer, I went in everyday and watched at least a little of each process except the cleaning.

Did he give you a timeline or did you just give him your parts with no idea when he'd be done?
If he missed the deadline he set, go pick your **** up. If he never set a time for it to be done, call him and tell him you need it done by the end of the week. Some shops will string people along and do more "urgent" jobs instead.

Has this happen to me some time ago on my 71 Lemans Sport Convertible, but the guy had the car, the old motor, and my new motor. New build that was to take 4 weeks took 12 and that motor lasted only 4 years. The rings were gapped wrong. Last year, new build took 8 weeks but it was more of a parts issue.
I was held by the ***** since the car and motor were both there and I had no real way to take them back the first time. I was also a noob back then to this entire deal.
I think you need to go there and talk to the guy. If he can't do it, take the motor/parts and walk away.
