Default what the hell should i buy

Im looking for a new car to build as a street car.

I can't make up my mind if i should settle for a cheaper 90-93 car or keep looking for a good priced 94-95 car.

I have all my brakes and suspension from the race car to use, so i don't care about getting the 1.8l brakes

I have my built 1.8l engine that will be getting some upgrades to the cams, and turbo setup

I have my 1.8l rear end so thats not a worry either

But is it worth my while to get the 1.8l car to have better resale on the parts i will be replacing, and is it worth my while to find another car that comes with the extra bracing. And what is the wiring like in a older car, is it OBD0 or OBD1 ?

Part of me wants the lighter car with less BS, then part of me wants the better car for better re-sale, and more bells and whistles.

I guess, what i want to know, is what one is better to build a bad *** street car with, and does the bracing make a big difference, and is the wiring a pain in the *** in the older car, ill be running MS or AEM

Sounds like all you need to be worrying about is finding a nice body/chassis/interior.

Or at least... that's how i'd approach it.

Resale of a heavily modified car (which you'll have) doesn't matter in a traditional sense. On this forum if you try to sell it when you're done, with those mods, anyone who knows anything won't give a **** what you started with.

i don't mean re-sale of the car, i mean re-sale of the engine and drivetrain i will be pulling out to put my built stuff in

i want to know if there is any drawback to using a older chassis when building a car like I'm gonna build, most of the parts are coming from my tube front drift car. But the plan is to build something i can drive every day.

In that case 94-97 for sure. However, i'd go with 90-93 for the best color options (mariner, BRG).

You're talking a different of what... a few hundred between a 1.6 and a 1.8 dropout?

a guy that works in the building next to mine has a 91 BRG with matching hardtop, I'm tempted to go leave a note on his car to see if he will sell

I would just look for the best body you can find. I don't think the difference between resale of 1.6 and associated components will be that great compared to the 1.8 relative to the hassle/cost/misery of a rotten chassis. I believe a lot of the NA8 bracing can be added to the NA6, but cannot recall the details right now. I'd research that angle, and maybe factor in the cost of frog arms if you're concerned about NVH.

Find any year clean car from the south with a blowed-up motor. Ship it home. I hate rust.

I was always partial to BRG, but I would look for the straightest and cleanest body you can find. The difference in stiffness between the younger and older cars can easily be corrected. Some people say they like the older interior better, but it certainly would not be enough to sway me from a car that had a fresher body.

I suppose the older bodies are a tad lighter.

Planning on spending a little time at the drag strip? Glad you are staying in the game regardless of what you do with it.

You're in CT. Do the OBDI car, or do an NB.

no NB, i do like them, but i have a lot of NA body parts already, hood, trunk, finish panel, ect...

I would rather use the parts than sell them for half price to some local yokel

gonna try to go and look at this today, I don't like that its at a dealership though.

94-95. Don't bother with the OBD2. I hate having to go pseudo stock every 2 years to pass emissions here in CT.

Here is one that is down in Charleston SC. Looks clean from the 2 pictures and it cheap. I could go check it out a bit later this week if you are interested in it.

t]That looks nice, but my issue right now is i need to stay close to home. My wife is due to go into labor any day now. Otherwise i would be looking further away. I might have to just wait until after the baby comes and were settled before i can start looking further away. There is a nice look white 1990 near me but the guy hasn't gotten back.

Im gonna call on this one next i think

I mean do you need it this instant? I could store it at my place till you have some to come pick it up.
