Clutches are always a hot debate.

I didn't see the other thread in my Scottie's Deli coma. I also posted in the wronge section. OOps....

I guess we go through this all the time. Ebay clutch vs ACT etc etc. But here is my variation. If we can put a different disk in and hold for a max 8 psi. He will be good forever. And we may not upgrade the pulley. This is a daily driver.

I have read various post of certain aftermarket clutch sets using oem pressures on their pressure plate and aftermarket disk material.

I'm going to drop the tranny on my brothers SC M45 1.6. I need to find out if they have upgraded it to the 1.8 or if it is still 1.6.

His clutch fries like Southeren chicken while in boost. Plus he is thinking of upgrading the pulley later.

Right now he is pushing 5-6psi. And his clutch pedal is real firm. I think it may already have a competion clutch. If so I'll order that disk.

1. If it is stock and I install a 6 puck or etc disk. Do you think that would hold 7-8 psi from a M45 SC.

2. Some of you are getting some miles on these ebay clutches now. Which one is the new current favorite of the week.

3. We seen one ebay kit with a lightened flywheel. Does anyone have any first hand experiance with this? Pro's or cons. ( I know the SC has less overall power. Some turbo guys like it , some don't. What are your thoughts on lightened flywheels used with 6-8psi.)

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to why the Spec/Ebay clutches fail, it seems to happen at random, some fail more dramatically than others. Other folks abuse the hell out of them, and they hold up, luck of the draw. I know I'd rather go with a sure thing, especially if you count on the car for transportation or just don't like doing jobs twice.

Yea, normally we don't go cheap on parts important parts like this. But since the stock clutch holds to about 6psi. We thought if we could make it work with a better disk. We would save money. Then we could get a better clutch when hrs and sales pick up.

Jesuz christ. We have a new clutch thread like every ******* day. Everyone here with a puck clutch will tell you the bitch holds power. Like more than a m45 SC'd 1.6 could possibly ever make. But puck clutches are cheap and hold well but at the expense of driveablility and put more shock load on the drivetrain behind it. Just search for christ sake. I bet money you can just hit the new post button, scroll down, and find a clutch thread.
