Let me ask you this then, do you know what tooth count you are using now?

No, I did not count the teeth. I'm actually going to swap back, because there's a probability that it could be the wrong one installed and the correct final drive would be 4.5... but that still leaves me asking the same question.

If you aren't sure of the sensor that's in there, I would be suspicious because there IS a kia 4.77 ring gear that fits our diffs, and you might somehow have a VSS set up for that.

I did, read it... found it full of electronics.

Not so good with those.

Admittedly, got attached to the idea of having a mechanical fix. I'm very much more on the mechanical side of engineering than the electronic... or my turbo car would be running. :/

You are a very confusing person. In the beginning you wanted something electrical that you could use to calibrate the signal. Both my links offered that. You only other option as I see it is to find the correct tooth gear, or make one (3d printer ?)

I'm sorry, I was originally looking for something plug and play.

Saw a bunch of wiring points and my brain went into no way mode.

Well if you can figure out how many teeth you need I can count the two I have and see if they will work.

Will do. I'll jack up my car and take out the other sender too.

Best case scenario, I find out I accidently put in a 3.9 sender, replace it with a 4.3 and everything is perfect.

The one I think is a 4.3 has 22 teeth, it seems.

The one I think is a 4.1 has 20 teeth.

These numbers line up?

My 4.3 that came out of my 99 5-speed a few weeks ago has 23, just counted.

It wasn't even the problem, my damn speedo is still broke.

Damn, either I miscounted or...

Is there a listing of different available tooth amounts?

The one I think is from a 4.3 is red, and the one I thought was from a 4.1 is white, not sure if they're color coded.

Mine is green. Don't remember the color of the replacement I put in.

Here, I took some with the good camera for backup counting purposes.

Still got 23.

There was a thread with hustler that talked about the gears and how many teeth for what models. I'll see if I can find it.

F all that, just do it through the MS3x

http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms3/speedgear.html

M502-17-441 (19 tooth) gear or an M503- (20 tooth) gear
