Default Fuel Pump - DW/Aero

Sorry if this was covered but I didn't see it in the noob FAQ and I did a google search on this site without anything concrete.

Through my vendor it is about a $10 difference between the DW 320lph and the Aero 340lph. The DW is miata specific where the Aero is universal. Any pros or cons that you have run into with either of these units.

Here is the swap that I am putting into my 91'

8.5:1 +1mm forged pistons/ rods, head + main studs.
The head is ported, gasket matched, some combustion chamber shaping.
T3/T4 57 trim .48 hot side, .60 cold side.
38mm wastegate
FMIC - 20"x9"x2.5" core.
1000cc high impedance dw inj

This setup has run pump gas, race gas and E85 with boost ranging from mid 20's to mid 30's. I just ordered my MS3PnP from Reverant as the original MS1 for this build decided to go AWOL. I stuck with the 29psi MAP Sensor as I plan to start off running pump gas and tune in the mid 20's. I had E85 on my WRX for 5 years throughout various stages of it's build. I am going to do my best to stick to a 91/92 map running 93 pump gas for the time being on the Miata. We will see how long I last before the E85 monster takes hold fo this project.

With that being said, looking for any advice one way or the other that people may have.

E85? ALLOFIT boost?

I'd just get the Wally that Soviet uses. Think it's a 450 or something.

I am guessing you are saying get a Walbro? I had a 255 in my WRX and it was running strong when I sold the car. Which was 2 different builds/engines and about 55K miles.

However, isn't a 450 overkill. I was thinking 300 - 350LPH should work fine.

How much boost and how much power? If you're going to be running over 30psi you need the wally 400E85 or to make sure you get the new version of the 300lph DW. If not, just get the wally 255, should be enough. You really want a miata specific install so that you dont get fuel starve on a low tank in corners. The wally 400E85 doesnt really have a specific install and thats what I've been fighting right now.

Per the first post, pump gas tune with 29psi MAP. Tuned to mid 20's. I am not thinking the 255 is what I want.

Yeah 255 should be enough to run e85 on that little turbo at 20psi. But do the math out and make sure whatever pump you get flows enough fuel at 45psi + boost pressure to support the power you plan to make.

I am running the Aeromotive 340, and it's a great pump. The sock they included with the install kit was short and cheesy, so I used an OEM Mazda sock. Install is otherwise straight forward.

This. You will find this repeated time and time again when people talk about fuel pumps. If you can find a pump that has specific Miata fitment, go for it.

Absolutely check out Soviets build thread for fuel pump fuckery. That guys gone through and documented more pumps than anyone I can think of off hand.

Be warned: the Wallys tend to be loud in a Miata. Tank is almost right behind your head rather than hidden under the rear seat like the Subaru. I moved from a 190HP to a DW200 and the audio footprint is like night and day different. Of course, I'd imagine that you probably don't care based on the mods list.

The wally 400e85 is like the quietest wally they sell. You can only heat it with your head in the trunk and the car off, but the key on.

Up until you said this... I was under the impression that Concealer404's qoute below was some joke or slang I didn't understand. LOL, it make so much more sense now. Sorry Concealer404, i didn't realize you were giving me good advice right off the bat....

I will read up on his thread tonight. I hope I can pull that FP from one of my vendor accounts.
