Say i've been driving the car and the Rad Fan comes on once i park the car up at home (engine still running) when i turn the car off the fan stops running, now is this right, never tested it before i fitted the EMU?

yes- with the engine off, the fan will only cool the coolant in the rad, which won't make it to the engine since the water pump isn't spinning anymore.
