Hello, sorry for my bad English, i am from Austria. Your Forum and the informations are very great.

I am a abolutly turbo newbie ..... and i habe bought a used Bell Turbokit for my 1.6 Miata. The Kit inkludes an airradiator (sorry, i donīt know a better word), the hole tubo kit, a begi fuelregulator and fuelpump and a MSD. The kit is made for 8 PSI.

Have anyone a similar Turbo Kit with this MSD? I will drive with the stock engine. I hope, my engine will not become damaged or "blow up".

For the Engine save, i have bought a Koyo 55 Performance Radiator by goodwinracing.com and a oil radiator.

that's an old kit but, very reliable. You you tune it correctly, you should damage the engine.

8psi is perfectly safe with good tuning (lambda and timing are key).

You will be happy with BEGi, their parts are top notch.

Welcome to the board, if you don't know a certain word in english feel free to use German (a few of us know a bit and can translate it for the rest). Air Radiator = Intercooler

It pulls 6 degrees of timing, and with the intercooler, you should be ok to set your timing at 12btdc at idle. Take it for a drive and boost it to see if you get any engine knock, if there is, lower the timing setting, if not, good to go. You need to be listening for knock and watching for any violent movements of the oil pressure gage. Hope this answered your question, good luck.

Thank you for your posts. Today, i have got a parcel from usa (san diego) with my new koyo 55 water radiator. In a few days, my turbo miata will run.

I hope, my stock engine will run a few miles without any problems. With kind (octane) of fuel must a use now? Is a higher octane (linke 100 octane) better to save the engine?

Thank you for the word "intercooler". I have already known the word, here in austria we also say intercooler, but i could not say it. I haven´t thougt at his word!

It's a good idea to run 91 octane or higher for fuel.

Hey there!

Yes you are going to want to run higher octane to prevent detonation. (detonation is what kills your engine). Id recommend running a good 93 or so octane, and you should be ok.

In Austria, he likely has 98 octane on the RON scale which is roughly the same as our 93 octane on the RON+MON/2 scale here in the U.S. (to convert RON to RON+MON/2, just multiply the RON rating by 0.95).

Jonny, stick with at least 98 octane on the RON scale, if that's what Austria uses.

probably, but it's not a good idea... running the correct fuel is cheap insurance. At an additional $0.40/gallon you are talking less than $4 per tank which is likely around $25/month. Is it worth it to you to blow you motor to save $25/month?

The highest octane here in Austria is 100 octane (100 * 0,95 = 95), this will be in USA 95 octane . What do you mean, can a take this really high octane or is this too high. By the way, this 95 octane fuel will cost per liter (i think 3,5 liter is one gallon) 1,2 Dollar. It is very expensive.

In which direction will go the degrees (with my MSD)? In the upper side or down?

For Example: my timing is a 12 btdc an my MSD will increase the degrees up to 18 btdc?

If all I am going to do is light freeway driving I will run 87 0r more like 89 in my car. I go easy on it and it is fine, I dont recomend it in town.

It may not be good practice, but I hate to be 300 miles from home and pay middle of nowwhere gas prices If I am just cruiseing the central valley who cares right>

Does anyone know, if 1.8er injectors are a good idea for my 1.6 Bell Turbo Miata? A little more fuel would cool the burning temperatur, isnīt it?

I'd run 10psi of boost with 1.8 injectors and the MSD, especially if you can use the highest octane gas you have. For 8psi you don't really need the bigger injectors. The kit you have is a very well known and reliable kit, at 8psi you shouldn't need to do anything other than run decent gas.
