Default How to modify stock oil pressure gauge to be mechanical/accurate on 2000 NB

Ok, so I have seen this done on youtube by someone who changed the function of their stock oil pressure gauge on a NB Miata. Normally this gauge just sets up about half way and doesn't move any. I had a 94 NA Miata that had the mechanical style one. Curious as to see if anyone has any insight on how to make this modification??

I think that's the link I found it under share

get a 94 (or whatever it is) sender and pressure gauge.
install both.
done

pretty sure there's a walkthrough on m.net

There are a couple of different levels of effort / reward possible here.

One is to just grab the complete assembly from a '90-'94 car. The early gauge is not a direct drop-in replacement for the NB cluster.

Another option is to leave the stock gauge intact, and replace just the sensor, as documented here: NB Oil Sender Upgrade

Having done that, you can also make a simple modification to the gauge to improve its range somewhat: Oil Pressure Gauge Modification

Or you can go all-out and actually re-build the gauge itself: Turning the NB oil pressure gauge into a REAL gauge
