I heard the "OEM style" aftermarket units are rebuild-able, but OP might want to consult his local dealership.

Nope! Can't get it from the dealer anymore. You will have to go to the junkyard and get one. It is a real bitch to get it out. Just ask one of the part pullers at the junkyard on how to remove it.

Yeah bro and while you're in there make sure your proton thrusters are up to snuff

That's a known issue with Miata's, I think there was a recall at some point.
