Default 2.6 - 95 - loss of power above 5k

Hey guys, I've all-but got my 95 back to full operating conditions, but I'm having issues with accelerating above 5k. No matter what I do or how hard I accelerate, in any gear I end up with a big drop in power above 5k (almost feels like fuel cut, or like I'm hitting the breaks while accelerating), and it feels like it's missing all the way up to 7k. I did a data log but I didn't save it because I was mostly watching for knock or anything else that could contribute on the log over my lunch break, and to top it off it's raining out so I can't safely test it again right now. I'm running the FM2 and 2.6 hydra.

Any ideas guys?

what is the soft RPM cut set at on the hydra?

When is the last time you replaced plugs/wires?

What is your turbo setup?

FM2, GT2560, plugs and wires less then 10k ago. Soft RPM cut I assume means the rev limiter? It has been set to 7250 since my initial tuning.

I considered maybe I was running very rich or something but I have typical AFRs under acceration and idle.

there's a soft cut and a hard cut limiter.

you could be soft cutting at 5k, and hard cutting at 7250?

miata coils eat plug wires for breakfast. if you've got a 'lifetime warranty' set of wires, go back to the store you bought them at, and tell them your wires are bad. (if they ask, tell them you put a friends wires on and the car ran fine)

if you dont have a warrantied set, go to the autoparts store and buy a warrantied set. if it doesnt fix the problem, then you've got a set of wires for when they do go bad another 5 or 10 k from now...

I'm not mr troubleshoot (my car is parked now and won't start) but I would change my plug wires and my plugs, then swap coils, then replace them. Please also post your map.

Also, why aren't you running a bigger turbo or more boost with your built bottom end?

Figured it out. there was some fluid in the 1 and 4 plug wells, such a small amount (and it was what was causing the issue).

Now my last problem I have, is I got a coolant leak on a turbo hose (slow drip), not sure where. I'm going to pull them to find it though. -_-

Mostly water, for sure. Possibly some oil from a previous change was mixed in as well. Was probably causing arcing or missing of some sort at the higher end, but it got worse today. Took it out and it would bog horribly and run worse then it did when I was driving an NA as soon as I hit 5psi. Car wouldn't even go above 5.5psi it was retarding timing so bad...

Now I know though. I cleaned the plugs and wires using rubbing alcohol and a rag, runs just fine now. Reason I didn't see it before is it was covered in something inhibiting my ability to see the fluid itself.
