I suspect it's because he doesn't want the limitations of a "consumer product" like the hydra. the Tec3 and Haltech let you do all the dirty work yourself but they don't have any interest in customer support for your specific application. Mark clearly thinks he's smart enough for that on his own

Nah I liked the Tec3 when I had it in my car. I just wanted something that was a little more user-friendly and the hydra has some benefits but also some drawbacks. I suspect the AEM EMS is a prime candidate but it's almost too much work to deal with it at the moment. they're all good for some things and a compromise for others.
