Default Good and bad news!

ok so i was planning on finishing up with the sanding an polishing of my car on thursday so when i showed up for the dyno day it would be all done for everyone to see, looks like i'll be finishing up sunday now. Don't worry guys i'm still coming. Ok so the reason is I actually got picked to go to "On Track" on thursday at pocono raceway.

Ok so a little background. I work for mercedes and every year mbusa does what they call on track at like 5 or 6 places throughout the country, closest to me being pocono. This also happens to be the 20th year anniversary. So i get to take the day off work paid and go drive all the badass mercedes on the track like the 55's 65's, the new unreleased 63's and........the SLR . We'll be doing instructional courses, hot laps, and autocross. We will also be driving some of the competition from bmw and lexus i believe. Also will have chances to win prizes like driving schools and other cool stuff, apparently more than normal since it's the 20th anniversary. I'll get as much pictures as i can

i wish i could bring someone for company during the car ride and to take pictures. but they strictly said no guests. Yeah i guess it's is kind of like a fluffer but i can't believe i'm getting to go, it's usually only like upper management and nobody else even hears about it until they get back and gloat. I'm so damn excited, especially since i get to drive the SLR, for those who don't know it's $450K+ almost all carbon fiber including the frame and something like 617 horses.

Awesome! But both a blessing and a curse. It's kind of like after going FI, NA never feels the same... After going SLR, I can't imagine many cars comparing....

Ok so the day was amazing, better than i thought it would be. We did 2 autocrosses, one with a C55 and the other with an SLK55. We did driving comparisons with bmw lexus and audi, much to my surprise the mercedes basically stomped bmw, i actually really enjoyed the GS350 though. Then we did some hot laps in the SLR, E55, and CLS63. ALL were insanely capable on the track. I was only able to get up to about 110mph before they told me to calm down, mind you this was in one of the turns on the main course, driving on a bank is strange , we never got to do any real long straights.

In my group i won the autocross by over a second. Somebody in another group beat me by 1.5 seconds though, he must have been insane . A also won the kart race by a lot, they actually have a remote control to slow you down, they kept doing it to me because i was going to lap people. i was pleased since it was the first time doing either.

We then did some laps with professional racers driving, man are guys good, real good .
