I'm still playing it but it in no-way shape or form lives up to what it's billed as.

The ranking system gets on my nerves now too.

I used to buy a car and you could enter it in any event you wanted assuming you'd passed the requisite license. That was good as it meant I'd battle for 6th place and earna few credits which I'd splurge on a few mods and then go back to the race and maybe finish 5th.

You don't get that anymore as every race requires a completely different car, and once that race is done the car is no longer really required, so no point in modifying it.

Part of the essence of the game is modification, yet the way it's structured on GT5 there's little reason/motivation to.

Stop being a troll!

I've beaten pretty much all of the beginner and amateur races, and so far only found one or two races that I could reuse a car previously bought and tuned for another race. I'm sure there will be more uses down the road, but it is very limiting in that aspect as well. I also find myself either blowing away the competition, or getting my *** kicked. It's hard to get a perfect match for door to door racing. Again, I will bring up Forza as an example. There was almost always heated battles in Forza thanks to the PI system they used.

Didn't Prologue have something similar to that point system? Seems like I recall it having something that GT5 lacks.

Thanks...didn't realize this.

I haven't hardly started the career mode (studying for finals), and after reading that I almost don't care too. What a crock of ****.

I think I made it through all of GT1 with 3 ******* cars. I of course bought more after I could take the Escudo to the highspeed course and make bank just to buy eye candy...but I honestly became emotionally attached to those cars I spent all that time struggling in, modding, and then winning with.

In other news...new 320GB PS3 with move bundle, GT5 and some kids games FS.

I'm up to the Expert series now. Can't wait to be done with all the races and start having fun with cars racing against myself on the Ring

the Obutto is nice. I just hope I don't get bored with GT anytime soon or I might as well put it up for sale. The cockpit + the G27 set me back over $600... If I start playing less than 3 times a week, it's gonna have to go. I can't seem to get gold much on any special events besides all the Kart and Nascar. The AMG 'Ring tests? Forget it. I'm lucky just to get silver. The rally events are damn near impossible to even bronze. I golded B and A licenses, but there's no point in spending hours and hours trying to gold the harder licenses. I'd rather just spend that time playing a different game. I spent 3 or 4 hours golding the A license.

That damn gear indicator light screws me up every time. It always tells me to go into a lower gear than I need to. I wish I could turn that off.

That pesky indicator light ***** me up too. I do better ignoring it the best I can and go by sound. The license tests are much harder than any other game I've played. Some of the "this should be easy" B licenses even took me 20-30 attempts. I thought I would have my line perfect, and my throttle and braking just right, and just couldn't kill that final .1 of a second, or 1/4 car length on the ghost car. Someone one lap I would just luck up and something would happen and I would find myself clawing ahead just enough to get gold by hundredths. The AMG ring test has to be goddamn impossible. I know that track from racing games like the back of my hand, and know that car fairly well and drove perfect lines (as well as I could with the **** physics, lol *troll*) with a tiny mistake here and there and was still more than 10 or 15 seconds shy of gold. WTF!

You guys do realize that getting to play this game after finals is what's keeping me motivated in my studies right now, and ya'll are killing that for me?

I had considered taking a study break here and there to try and get an easy license just to get a taste and make some progress...but I don't have hours to spare. The game is sitting on top of the fridge right now so I don't touch it.

This is why I haven't owned a console in over 5yrs. When I decided I was tired of construction and wanted to go to school I knew it would only be a distraction.

I've missed out on so much...

Halo
MW
Wii
GT2-4
DDR

I havent had a console since Turbo Graffix 16. I bought a used PS in college and played GT1 a lot, then gave it to my brother.

LOL

reading comprehension fail...I said "don't" not "can't".

If I'm in front of the fridge there's something on my mind besides a video game.

Well, if you can't, then you don't. But mostly I just liked the idea that you had a 12 foot tall refrigerator or something.

It's okay, I was obsessed with DDR for over 3 years on my first try at college.

Ignore these *******, if you read on other forums people are loving it. There are def, some legit gripes, but overall it is still addicting and fun.

All GT's have had races where you needed a certain car, and once you get to Professional/Expert races you can use same cars for multiple races. I used my 67 Lambo for many things... Now I'm using my Viper ACR (1014hp)

The game is awesome, but has somethings that need to be improved/fixed.

If you think racing is too easy just go and try to gold all the license tests. When you're done with that I dare you to try and gold all the challenes.

I "beat" the game last night by doing the GT World Championship (5 Races) IT was a blast and most races were 15-22 miles. Driving my Viper on the ring with a wheel was INTENSE.
