I'd rather have a 7/10 driving experience with the best photography detail in the business, than a 10/10 driving game with no photo mode. I get a chub for good photos of cars.

I gave up on the game years ago, guess It was the right thing to do or I'd be stuck with a ps3 and no games.

Makes me want to pick up forza 3 for $20 bucks.

I am definitely a bit dissappointed in GT5. Like others have said, the development time was not worth the endproduct. It's still the best driving game on PS3, so I plan on logging many, many hours with it. But it should have been better.....

Well then it's people like you that ruined the game for people like me. Thanks!

This is not photography imo, this is photo editing skills. Anyone can go in a make a decent picture look good, but it takes real skills to find the right focal points while staying in the rule of 3. Its not all about take a picture with massive angle then edit the **** out of it to not make people realize that nothing in the picture looks good, just the effects used on it.

This is a racing game btw not a photography game, if you want a photography game go play pokemon snap.

Edit: And i know you still own a n64. Not just because your a nerd, its the fact that the n64 is the best system out with the best game....007 Golden eye.

goldeneye is on wii now too, and I almost bought a wii + goldeneye bundle on amazon today for $200 but decided against it. I logged many months worth of time playing 4 player splitscreen back in the day...and lol @ pokemon snap. I remember playing a demo or maybe full version at toys r us over 10 years ago. I didn't hate it, but didn't really see a point either. Was never a big pokemon person.

I was going to buy goldeneye, but I'd rather not get a 10/10 FPS game without a photo mode.

Yeah, because AI will magically not be retarded if I use a wheel. I've always only used a controller, so it's an equal benchmark. Not like I played Forza with a wheel, then this with a controller. I'm pretty sure I could at least handle the driving physics better with a wheel, but I'm now glad I didn't spend hundreds of dollars on a good wheel setup for this, seeing how bad it is. Even discounting that, there are still plenty for me to bitch about.

I did notice a VERY SLIGHT awareness from the AI, but only if I get in front of them and hit the brakes, they will slightly slow, but still run all over your ***, or the car behind them will hit them, in return hitting me. It's just a preset path around the track, without much reaction. I was infuriated on one of the A license tests where you had to do an inside braking overtake, and the goddamn lead car kept turning into me and ending the attempt. No way to squeeze by the ****** without him turning into my side, even if I'm easily going to pull it off.

The AI is challenging if you use a car with the same hp/weight or less than the rest of the field. If you use something that is overpowered, of course it's no fun to race. Yeah the AI will hit you or brake early, but it's still a challenge.

no, but you can't tell me it wouldn't be awesome!

[QUOTE=NA6C-Guy;662087]If I had an actual racing sim, I would have a wheel and pedal setup, but no console game has ever achieved near simulation levels. At least not enough to warrant me spending several hundred dollars. I've always gotten by perfectly fine with racing games with my dual analog.

Gave it another try, and still pretty much hate racing. No matter the car or mods, the goddamn things love to have snappy over-steer and regaining control from a slide often leads to a snap in the other direction and into a wall. The only saving graces I have found are b-spec mode and photo travel mode. b-spec allows for a little bit of input to control your computer driver, and you still earn credits, and the photo mode has lots of options. Mine didn't transfer well over to my computer, seemed just right on my TV, but on my monitor, they are all over exposed. For some reason photoshop wasn't recognizing the jpg's and I couldn't open them to fix the exposure problems. QUOTE]

well, i think it may be more real than your used to. i can't tell you how many people i have seen do exactly what your describing out on a track. with the game it's easy to go speeds that in real life, your ***** and sense of self preservation would prevent. that said, i drove it last night with the g27 wheel and yes, at first it felt like you describe. but once i turned all the driving aids off, and started controlling the throttle better, it felt pretty good. pretty real. lastly, have you ever driven on a racetrack? a real one? if not it's hard to say how realistic it is to drive 10/10ths on a track. nothing you do on the street is even close. if you argue that point you obviously have never driven on track before. (this part isn't directed specifically @ you na6, i'm asking these questions in general to whoever)

i was also disappointed at the lack of difference for years spent making it. and the sound does suck compared to forza, but the driving feels and looks less arcady than forza or shift.

Please educate me on the g27 wheel's compatibility with gt5. From what i have read, it works.....but PD and Logitech screwwed up royally by not making it fully supported and is not configurable. Anyone here have direct experience to share? And would you recommend spending the money for the g27 to use with gt5? Or just stick to the sticks?

The G27 is supposted to be /the wheel/ for GT5. I haven't heard of anyone using it having issues.

I use a g27. Sucks not to have a good seat setup but I'm loving everything so far. I can get past the AI because... well... they're the computer so not much I can do about that.

The good thing is if for some reason you need to go to another game for a sim fix, you can hook up your g27 to the pc

It's fairly accepted that if you only own and will only play racing games on the PS3, then a g27 is the wheel for you. If you like to play cross platform the fanatec wins. And for xbox fanatec is the obvious winner.
