Default Got a new toy! Bring on macro shots

I've been eyeing this thing up for a while....I was going to go for the 2.8L but couldn't justify spending 300 to 400 more just for IS since they are about the same optically. It's so nice to finally being able to get some extreme close up shots

I don't know anything about photography. What makes this a bad or a good macro shot?

What kind of picture can you get when you shoot a dime?
