Dumb question: what is the 8th axis?

I count a "conventional" 5 axis + the feed & rotation of the material. 5+2=7

I'd make an entire "silver" ware set out of raw aluminum billet. Then I'd make a good flowing head for the 1.8L. Then make a custom set of monopoly pieces..... it goes on.

That CNC tubing cutter is nuts.

Haas minimills aren't expensive.

They're also useless. I have lost count of the amount of times I've had something all fixtured up in one of our mini mills, probed in, all the tools set, and hit simulate on the controller and got x-over travel alarm. And the spindle is a ******* *****. I would spend the extra money to get a TM1, then you get a bigger table better spindle, the ability to go manual, and its easier to do plastics (because on the mini mill you have to line it with trash bags to catch the plastic chips so they dont make it into the coolant system and clog it). Or go to one of the VF series, and pay for the SS, 12k rpm spindle blasts through aluminum).

Looking on their site I dont see the old style TM1 anymore, but the super minimill 2 actually looks worth buying.
