The turbo is well supported on a single turbo 962 and doesn't put a big load on the bolts (and apparently doesn't heat them up enough to cause the problems evidenced here regularly). The 962 we have at the shop has the same crappy mismatched nuts it showed up with and they don't come loose. I did my best to convince the PTB we ought to change them out regardless, but to no avail.

Uh, Hustler, it's ALFA Romeo, not Alpha. Unless you're getting it Greek style, which you probably are.

alfa engines are sick! widebody porsche's are alway's the ****, especially older 911's.

i think it's established that the reason the bolts fail is they're exposed to the direct exhaust gas/heat inside the manifold. the bolts that aren't exposed don't fail. you know they're exposed if when the bolt is out - exhaust gas shoots out the hole. i only have one exposed, so only one has ever broken. (top left - many times). confirmed by a few others including snowboarder.
